Subject: Should I get Halo 2 Vista and a new computer or just get an Xbox 360?

Hi, I am getting either a new computer or an Xbox 360 soon. I can only afford to get one, however. I want to get Halo 2 Vista when I get my new computer. However, I also want to buy Halo 3 when it comes out September 25th on the Xbox 360. I have a decent computer that does what I want it to do, and only need a new one to run a few high-end programs, including Halo 2, World of Warcraft, a Web server, and SQL Server. I may also get a graphics card for my new computer, as the one I have an eye on does not have good motherboard graphics, but the lack of DirectX 10 cards make me worry about buying another graphics card once DirectX 10 becomes the standered. Should I buy a new computer and Halo 2 Vista, or just get Halo 2 on the Xbox and get an Xbox 360 for when Halo 3 comes out?

Get the PC. I mean, you can use the internet, windows media player, LOTS MORE GAMES, and countless other features.
On the XBOX 360, you get a mild amount of games, LIVE Marketplace, and four controllers. Sorry if Im mistaken.

NVIDIA has 3 DX10 cards out so far, Radeon is releasing some to compete with NVIDIA, but from what I read, NVIDIA is ahead of the game.
If you go over the NVIDIA 8600, you're going to need a 350 Watt PSU or above. And you may want to look into 2GB or RAM if this PC is for gaming.
Especially since Vista is a memory hog.
I don't know your comfort zone, but if you build, it will cost you less then buying pre-built. And you can pick out better hardware for a decent price.
If you don't want to build, look into a Dell XPS or if you want to tread into the over $1000 area, Voodoo, or Alienware.
But it all depends on what you have to spend.
The 360 will be your best bet in terms of price for gaming, where the PC will cost more, but will be the better investment.

It depends on what kind of games you like. PC games are better for games where you are pulled far away from the action and have to control multiple things at the same time; RTS games are the most common example of this although there are others. PCs are also better for RPG games as the ability to mod games is about ten times more useful in an RPG as any other type of game. Racing, Fighting, Shooting, and other first person games (becides RPGs) are better played with consoles, as the controls are more natural in a first person perspective. (RPGs would fall under the console catigory, but modding outways more natural controls) Also, consoles can have splitscreen gameing, and if you have any friends at all you know how valuble that capibility is.

As much as I love PC gaming, I must say I'd rather go with the Xbox 360 and Halo 3 over getting Halo 2 Vista and a new PC. Halo 2 PC is considered by many to be a mediocre port--I'd rather go with the 360 and Halo 3 over Halo 2 Vista and the PC. I'm a PC gamer, but deeper inside I'm simply a gamer, and it doesn't matter to me what platform a game is on if the game is fun.

On the other hand, if you're planning on getting a kickass rig to play other games alongside Halo 2 Vista, go buy the PC.

AHAHAHHA. You just lost all your credibility there.

PS: Console RPGs and PC RPGs are different. Games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest are best suited for consoles. Games like Oblivion, Baldur's Gate, Diablo are best suited for PC.

I'm always hearing this, but I disagree. It's not the console that's better for those type of games, it's the controller. And you can use a controller on a PC. So imho, every type of game should be on PC.

Win!

Like mice and keyboards can't be "more natural in a first person perspective."

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

It depends on whether you want Halo 3 or Halo 2 Vista.

I say go with H2V now, and gather $400 by September for the 360.

Dude if you love fps games, go for a good pc. Shooter games totally suck on consoles because of the controllers. Mouse and keyboard will always pwn gamepads when it comes to shooting

If you asked this in the Halo 3 or Halo 2 or even Combat evolved section, people would say get a 360. But instead you asked in a section where everyone uses a pc for games, so obviosuly their answer would be get a pc.

Just remember, Halo 3 = Xbox 360.
All the pc gets is a cheaper version of Halo 2.

Remember, PC = Crysis. Here's my advice. Get BOTH! lol, that way you have Halo 3 and Crysis (and a large sum on your credit card, but who cares, lol, jk).

Does that not blow Halo out of the water? I'd rather be beta-testing Crysis than Halo 3, to be very, very honest.
