As long as the PS3 remains high priced, Microsoft don't really feel the need to drop its own.

If you're really desperate, you could buy one on Ebay for substantially less than the current price (or even what it would be in a year).

Anyone have any idea as to when they are going to drop the price of the 360?

It will drop in price around the same day as the next generation Xbox will be released. And that will be retailers trying to get rid of it.

I doubt it will ever drop. Microsoft is in love with money in a way no other electronics company on earth can match; on par with Wal-Mart and the gasoline cartel. If they think they can get more money from the price as of now, there's no way in hell they will ever lower it.

Yeah, I definately don't think they will lower it anytime soon. But, I do recommend buying one off eBay if you want to save yourself some money. I bought my 360 on there for $255 plus shipping and I have had it for several months now with no problems.

It could also have something to do with the fact that they're already losing money on every Xbox.

There won't be a price drop for the 360 anytime soon. However, something of mine will drop... right.... now

Hint: It involves the word ants, and it starts with a P.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Not for a while.

They lose money on them so I doubt it will drop anytime soon.

(Or so I heard).

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

I've been patient on getting my 360. In general, I've been wondering as to the quality of the 360's. Has Microsoft fixed any of the bugs which everyone was complaining about, such as overheating?

From what I gather, only the first generation of 360's have that problem..... Just in case, you can buy a $20 intercooler fan for it and be ok. It's what I did. I bought mine in Nov 06 and haven't had a single problem. I've never had overheating problems or lockups.

There is one complaint I have with it. The headset that comes with it sucks eggs...big time. Any headset except for one sucks (I know, I tried them all). The only one that does NOT suck is the bluetooth one that is $60. Because of price, I went through every one of them until I finally gave up and got that one.

They all say that they have noise reduction, they don't. The bluetooth is the only one that does. The one that comes with the 360 is the worst of the lot. It's obviously incredibly cheaply made. I had constant problems with it. So when you shell out the dough for a 360, make sure to save up $60 extra for the bluetooth headset... It's worth it. seriously.

I read on Joysitq that Microsoft has been taking a huge hit on 360's the whole time and that they won't be profitable until Halo 3 launches (hinging on weather H3 will sell good, which of course it will) And like an above user said, as long as the Ps3 is rediculously priced, 360 is in no hurry

So I predict after a year of profit (Christmas '08) you'll see a proce drop.

Not for a long, long time. The PS3 is $600 and they don't consider Wii a threat. They have a monopoly on a good game system right now (like my PS3 and Wii, but LOVE my 360) right now and so they can charge a relatively high price for their good. Good for M$.

EDIT: To the person above me... They are making profit on 360s now. Almost $90! That's still really bad, but it's a profit.
