OK after a few days of playing Live I have a couple of observations. Please note I never played Halo2 before this so yes I'm sort of a newbie

1). I feel like the Field of View is tiny. I have got no peripheral vision, I feel like a throughbred with blinders on. I'm constantly being smacked from the back or side and have no indication anyone is there. In HaloPC I can tell exactly where and how far away someone is based on the sound of weapons fire and even there footsteps. Now maybe I'm just not used to the sound or the maps yet but this is frustrating.
a) Radar feels like its short range. By the time I pick anybody up its too-late. They have to practicaly be standing next to you to show up.

2) The importance of melees has skyrocketed. In HaloPC, it was hardly worth trying to melee unless you could get behind them. Now it has become a weapon of choice not just a backup. The lunge thing has so far eluded me. What is the exact criteria for getting the lunge to work?
a) Swords - hate 'em. IMO over-balanced. Very hard to take someone out before they get into dicing range. It hits you die, and coupled with the lunge makes it too potent. I hope there is an option to remove it from maps. Noob-knife FTL!

3) Brute shot. WTF am I supposed to do with this thing. Am I supposed to hit them directly, shot it at there feet, ricochet it in to them? I got into an oddball game with brute shot starting (stupid gametype BTW), and what a comedy of errors. I blew at least four of my teammates off the map, including one carrying the ball.

And I no longer have the felling I can hang with staticx. I met him in a SWAT team slayer on Battle creek I think. He ended up with most kills 66 including like 30+ headshots. Absurd.

OK... The new engine, hud and FOV takes time to get used to. Nothing big.

Yes, Melles are extremely important in Halo 2. The only reason they were not in Halo 1 (FOR PC!!) was due to the horrible netcode and high pings. (And btw: H1PC sucks hard.)

Here's how to evade swords (all takes practice, but it is easy to realize that the sword is a nooby weapon when you acctually master these):
Side-Side when you are being lunged and then stick or assasinate him.
While he is lunging, blast him in the face with a shotgun. Be careful though, don't wait for him to get TOO close. (In almost all cases btw, shotgun > sword)
Take him out before he gets near you. Especially if he is stupid enough to have his sword out from a long distance.

Brute shot is a room assault weapon. It can be bounced off walls and corners to reach normally unreachable targets. It is a two direct hit kill against 100% shields. There is splash damage from this weapon, but it can be ignored.

I find multiplayer right now unbearable because its always the same people playing - its not much fun. Until the game is actually released nationwide in stores other that circut city, I stick with only about 1 multiplayer game per day then I just play the campaign.

Well, at least the Brute Shot takes SOME practice to master. The noob-knife is "teh sukc". I guess it's fun to use it in campaigns, but putting it in MP was a horrible idea. Now, it's not "all right guys, you two, go up the hill and get ready to cover us, and you three, 3sk the enemies with me, and you, get ready with the hog, move out!", now in H2v, it's "all right guys, EVERYONE RACE TO THE SUPER WEAPONS!!!".

Are you smoking crack? H1PC was the worst port in history of the best game ever. H2V > H1PC any day. I'm sure you know what arguments I will pull to support my statement, so I won't even bother. It's too obvious.

I gotta agree with Ipjuunin, Halo 1 gameplay is far better than Halo 2 online. Plus H2V is a crap port aswell they don't even have rcon yet.

Wow, if anybody, you're the one who's smoking crack. Halo PC? Not only is Halo PC far from being the worst port ever (as bad as a port it was), Halo 2 Vista is much worse. I don't know what arguments you're going to use--they're not obvious at all, unless you really are smoking crack.

Nope. Followed closely by Rainbow Six Vegas.

EDIT: GRAW wasn't a port.

Fine, it was a game that came out on multiple platforms, but the PC version was considerably lackluster compared to the 360 version.

I actually thought R6V was respectable port.

LMFAO. H1PC kicks h2v's ass anyday, not the other way around. And am I smoking crack? Nah, maybe a Marlboro or two, but in this case, you're the one smoking crack, and being blindassed by M$ and Live propaganda. H2 for Xbox was definitely NOT better than H1, so why do you think a half-assed port like h2v will be any better than a fairly decent port as H1PC?

And I'm sure of the arguments so you won't bother to say them? That clearly means you have no -blam!-ing clue on how it is better. You're one of those kiddos who think a game with better graphics, "cooler, more overpowered" weapons, and the number 2 or 3 after the title name is the better game. Grow the hell up retard.

First of all, I never used any insults against you, and I expect you to act similarly.

Next, this is why H1PC is lacking.
- Horrible Netcode. (You mean I have to lead ALL my shots, melles, grenades, rockets, etc??!?)
Saying this acctually makes the game require "more skill" just means you like playing against people who don't know how\what lead is and win (cheap). Let me also point out how excellent (in comparison) the network netcode in the XBOX version was. Just something to think about.

- High Pings. (Yes, this also relates to the netcode, but is its own catagory)
I have a 600/250 Mbps FiOS connection, and the lowest ping I've EVER had was 100. In games like CS:S and F.E.A.R., I average about 40.

- Lack of Client Integrity checkers and Server-Side anti-cheating software. (As we all know, this results in client exploits and aimbotting)
A simple Google search will reveal a whole tank of aimbots and "patches" for your game. Join any random game, and there is a 10% of there being a cheater in it.

- All animations are played at 30 FPS, even when the framerate is far higher. (This makes the animations seem very choppy)
All in all, this isn't the worst thing that happened to H1PC, but it quite horrible nonetheless.

- Poorly written shaders. (nVidia drivers can't render the invisibility shader for example)
Not only are the shaders written for SM 1.0 (making them look horrible), they are also incompatible with nVidia's driver set. Really, how hard was it to download both a copy of ATi RenderMonkey *AND* FX Composer (Both are complete and free)?

- Textures are low res. (XBOX version texture resolution - When on high)
Don't you think that when porting an original XBOX game, you should increase the texture size?

- All support for the game was discontinued. (Neither GBX, nor MSFT care about this game... and for good reason)
So when was the last update for this game released? And what exactly did the updates fix when they WHERE released? EXACTLY.

- Lack of variety in Campaign mode. (Even the best aspect of the port has problems)
For example: The jackal sheilds had only one color; The elites and grunts where far more likely to re-use the same lines many times before they would say a unique one.

- No voice chat in MP. (Yeah...)
But then again, I should be thankful for this. If they included that, think of what the netcode would be like then...

Other thoughts:
They removed backpack reload but kept wall glitching??!
What the hell was the fuel rod and flamethrower added for? (Useless)
Why not upgrade the environment shaders...? Oh yea, that's right... you can't right shaders to save your life.
Was it really that hard to add FSAA? Or are you going to blame it on the "One Disk Requirement" that Microsoft gave you?
Did you really have to remove the shaders from the assault rifle, flagpole and longsword? Oh sorry, I keep forgetting...
Has it ever occurred to you that more people would want to play Halo with a controller than a joystick? Then why optimize it for the latter?
Was adding the banshee to MP really necessary?

All in all, this is the worst port ever. Notice how I never said anything about the core gameplay? This is because they didn't touch that... thankfully.

Now let's look at H2V:
- Acceptable netcode (at least it is up to standards)
- Meant for higher end hardware (those with higher end hard were no better off then lower-end harware with H1PC)
- All graphical effects, shaders, geometry are ported over and even improved.
- Gameplay was not tinkered with AT ALL.
- Acctually supports controllers like it should (not as H1PC does).
- Supports voice chat and even GFW Live!

Halo: Combat Evolved (XBOX) is, and will continue to be the greatest game ever. To tell you the truth, I really don't like H2 (XBOX) or H2 (Vista) half as much as H:CE (XBOX). But Halo: Combat Evolved (PC) just sucks.

You appear to lack:
1) Basic understanding of HPC
They removed backpack reload but kept wall glitching??!

2) Understanding of game mechanics
- All animations are played at 30 FPS, even when the framerate is far higher. (This makes the animations seem very choppy)
Easily disproved.

3) Technical understanding
I have a 600/250 Mbps FiOS connection, and the lowest ping I've EVER had was 100. In games like CS:S and F.E.A.R., I average about 40.

To MrNick (about your recent post), (everything in order from what you've said)

Now let's look at H2V:
- Acceptable netcode (at least it is up to standards)
- Meant for higher end hardware (those with higher end hard were no better off then lower-end harware with H1PC)
- All graphical effects, shaders, geometry are ported over and even improved.
- Gameplay was not tinkered with AT ALL.
- Acctually supports controllers like it should (not as H1PC does).
- Supports voice chat and even GFW Live!

-Actually, I'd prefer the original H1PC netcode over anything (and so would many loyal fans) (and as long as it doesn't go way overboard), but what the hey, your opinion, and there's my opinion, and thousands of others. Can't really argue about that.
-Both are system whores. I sure hope when you said "for higher end...", you meant for overkills. Because just like H1PC, H2v lagged out even with decent hardware.
-Graphics aren't anything. Sure a bit of eye candy is nice, but there's no reason to fuss over "z0mg AR is mi55ing shinyn3ss" (not to mention an external patch already came out for that). Like I said, graphics aren't everything.
-"Gameplay was not tinkered at all". That's what gets everyone pissed off. H2Xbox's gameplay sucked ass, and if they haven't tinkered with it for the new port, wouldn't it also stink (once again, my opinion, your opinion w/e).
-PC GAMES ARE MEANT TO BE PLAYED WITH THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD. If you really want good controller support, why not get the console version?
-Voice chat:Pay 50 dollars annually to huff one huff of breath into your mic. Ever heard of Teamspeak? And GFW Live is crap. Downright crap.

Hope I made my point.
