LMFAO. H1PC kicks h2v's ass anyday, not the other way around. And am I smoking crack? Nah, maybe a Marlboro or two, but in this case, you're the one smoking crack, and being blindassed by M$ and Live propaganda. H2 for Xbox was definitely NOT better than H1, so why do you think a half-assed port like h2v will be any better than a fairly decent port as H1PC?
And I'm sure of the arguments so you won't bother to say them? That clearly means you have no -blam!-ing clue on how it is better. You're one of those kiddos who think a game with better graphics, "cooler, more overpowered" weapons, and the number 2 or 3 after the title name is the better game. Grow the hell up retard.
First of all, I never used any insults against you, and I expect you to act similarly.
Next, this is why H1PC is lacking.
- Horrible Netcode. (You mean I have to lead ALL my shots, melles, grenades, rockets, etc??!?)
Saying this acctually makes the game require "more skill" just means you like playing against people who don't know how\what lead is and win (cheap). Let me also point out how excellent (in comparison) the network netcode in the XBOX version was. Just something to think about.
- High Pings. (Yes, this also relates to the netcode, but is its own catagory)
I have a 600/250 Mbps FiOS connection, and the lowest ping I've EVER had was 100. In games like CS:S and F.E.A.R., I average about 40.
- Lack of Client Integrity checkers and Server-Side anti-cheating software. (As we all know, this results in client exploits and aimbotting)
A simple Google search will reveal a whole tank of aimbots and "patches" for your game. Join any random game, and there is a 10% of there being a cheater in it.
- All animations are played at 30 FPS, even when the framerate is far higher. (This makes the animations seem very choppy)
All in all, this isn't the worst thing that happened to H1PC, but it quite horrible nonetheless.
- Poorly written shaders. (nVidia drivers can't render the invisibility shader for example)
Not only are the shaders written for SM 1.0 (making them look horrible), they are also incompatible with nVidia's driver set. Really, how hard was it to download both a copy of ATi RenderMonkey *AND* FX Composer (Both are complete and free)?
- Textures are low res. (XBOX version texture resolution - When on high)
Don't you think that when porting an original XBOX game, you should increase the texture size?
- All support for the game was discontinued. (Neither GBX, nor MSFT care about this game... and for good reason)
So when was the last update for this game released? And what exactly did the updates fix when they WHERE released? EXACTLY.
- Lack of variety in Campaign mode. (Even the best aspect of the port has problems)
For example: The jackal sheilds had only one color; The elites and grunts where far more likely to re-use the same lines many times before they would say a unique one.
- No voice chat in MP. (Yeah...)
But then again, I should be thankful for this. If they included that, think of what the netcode would be like then...
Other thoughts:
They removed backpack reload but kept wall glitching??!
What the hell was the fuel rod and flamethrower added for? (Useless)
Why not upgrade the environment shaders...? Oh yea, that's right... you can't right shaders to save your life.
Was it really that hard to add FSAA? Or are you going to blame it on the "One Disk Requirement" that Microsoft gave you?
Did you really have to remove the shaders from the assault rifle, flagpole and longsword? Oh sorry, I keep forgetting...
Has it ever occurred to you that more people would want to play Halo with a controller than a joystick? Then why optimize it for the latter?
Was adding the banshee to MP really necessary?
All in all, this is the worst port ever. Notice how I never said anything about the core gameplay? This is because they didn't touch that... thankfully.
Now let's look at H2V:
- Acceptable netcode (at least it is up to standards)
- Meant for higher end hardware (those with higher end hard were no better off then lower-end harware with H1PC)
- All graphical effects, shaders, geometry are ported over and even improved.
- Gameplay was not tinkered with AT ALL.
- Acctually supports controllers like it should (not as H1PC does).
- Supports voice chat and even GFW Live!
Halo: Combat Evolved (XBOX) is, and will continue to be the greatest game ever. To tell you the truth, I really don't like H2 (XBOX) or H2 (Vista) half as much as H:CE (XBOX). But Halo: Combat Evolved (PC) just sucks.
I agree H1PC had horrible net coding, but seriously, a controller on a PC game? Lame.
