There seems to be some confusion here among some members of the board. The toolset included with Halo 2 Vista (Sapien, Guerrilla, Tool) is used for the editing of maps, not the creation. It should be noted that you can't do any geometry editing or creating of any sort with these tools. To create brand new maps for Halo 2, using new geometry, you must model it in a 3D modeling program and use the .ass exporter for 3DS Max to export the geometry to a .ass file that Sapien can read. Sapien is used completely for the construction of lightmaps, weapon/vehicle placements, entity placement, scripting, and other things. Although, I don't know if scripting is possible in H2V Sapien, never been into scripting, myself.

So, the long and the short of it is:
You can not create new maps with the Halo 2 Vista included tools, you can only edit the maps and import the maps into the game that you make with 3DS Max. It should be noted that 3DS Max is a $3,000 dollar application, and unless you're either willing to pay that or pirate it (note I do not endorse pirating and am not suggesting anyone pirate) you are not going to make maps for Halo 2 Vista unless someone codes a .ass exporter for other applications.
