i think it would be awesome for the butt of the shotgun to have a cool "super-magnet" on it, so that it stuck to the place where it fits snuggly, and all he has to do is pull the triggers, and pump, and for the reloading... okay sure, you'd need lotsa of time, maybe make the shutgun a bit better with clips, and if not, still, taking 20 seconds to reload 2 shotguns... just to mow down some more covies would OWN! any thoughts?

*grins* I'll be supportive. No...

To be honest... there's no balance to two shotguns, sorry. Now, how would a magnet attatched to the stock help chamber shotgun shells?

Dual Shotguns would be cool, but not the kind of
shotguns from the first Halo. If this ever happened,
they would probably be sawed off so you could
hold one in each hand, and If this was ever in the
game, it would be balanced. Also, if you guys
remember, there were dual shotguns in Marathon.

Maybe if they were breach loading shotguns... but no way could you do it with a pump action... and where would the chief find breach loading shotguns in the UNSC military?

Check out the movie The Rundown. It's cheesy, it's got some nice explosions, Christopher Walken and - pertinent to this thread - features the Rock using two shotguns at once. He used one hand for each (obviously) which corresponds to the unwritten rule of dual-wielding, plus the reloads are convincing (one under each arm, pointing backwards and a quick front-to-back motion). Convincing enough to be used in a video game, that is. It could be possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't dual wield shotguns, if only to maintain balance between the weapons. It'd be way too powerful.

All that remains in getting the actual slugs into the shotgun. Maybe he could balance one shotgun on his knee while holding the other between his chin and chest?

Conclusion: S'not going to happen. Unless you throw away the shotgun when it runs out of shells and hope for the best.

Caboose is confused. He has a pump shotgun confused with a winchester rifle which... is NOT a shotgun.

Guys, there are things called semi-automatic shotguns. They're not nearly as powerful, but you can fire like 5 shots in a row without pumping it/reloading. If you've ever played Goldeneye then you know what I'm talking about. I don't like the idea of dual-shotguns, I'm just saying that this would be how they would probably do it.

Think about how powerful one shotgun is by itself. On anything but legendary (and it still works on blue elites) you shatter an elites shields and organs all in one blast at close range. Grunts, jackals, flood, and hunters are all very vulnerable to the shotgun at close range. From what I hear on E3 write-ups, the shotgun has even MORE power at close range. Think about it for a sec. You're probably going to kill somebody with one shot at close range the majority of the time. . . using two shotguns at once just wouldn't make any difference. Seriously are you going to make them twice as dead so they don't come back as a zombie or something? Dual weilding would only increase the shotgun's damage at range which defeats the balance that's achieved by making it suck at 10+Meters. Dual weilding is only present because most one-handed weapons are fairly puny by themselves.
Without any more rambling, my verdict is no. Dual shotguns is almost pointless and bad for balance.

I'll be on my own side.

look dual shotguns, rocket launchers and sniper rifles are just not going to work. but in Halo 2 Multi, the Elites hold the Battle Rifle like a pistol.maybe dual wielding those would work??but then it would screw up the zoom feature
