I'd love to boycott it but I really need a game to play, need something to do on my spare time. This is the only game im interested in. I would buy it for my Xbox 360 but I can not play with a controller, im -blam!- awful, check my Halo 3 Beta stats, see how bad they are. I love playing with Mouse/Keyboard, now that im good at.

1. Your going to have to get Vista eventually.

2. LIVE is going to be for other games, its a new feature. It will most likly become better and better over time. It also works with xbox LIVE.

3. Its a crappy port. I dont care i need to play halo 2 to see everything in it for myself.

4. It has the map editor. Hopfully it will better than halo 1 pc.

5. If you don't want to pay alot, wait for it to become cheaper.

i agree with bluewave, eventually everyone will have Vista one way or another. Plus its part of Microsoft's marketing strategy, they have Halo 2 on Vista so people would by Vista.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

1. The only reason Halo 2 Vista is Vista exclusive is to promote Vista. There is absolutely no reason why Halo 2 couldn't be done on XP.
2. So? We have Xfire, which is free. Paying for stuff that should be free is bull-blam!-.
3. Huh?
4. Correction, it has the map editor if you're gullible enough to pay for stuff that should be free.
5. Even if Halo 2 Vista is a cent, that's still supporting this -blam!-.

1. Halo 2 is on Vista because of Live Anywhere. It's Vista only AFAIK. It's not a grand scheme to make people buy Vista just to play ONE game. Anyone who does that is sad.

2. Live is better than Xfire, IMO, except for the fact that it only allows 100 friends.

3. I agree with the "huh?".

4. How do you have to pay for anything other than the game to use the map editor? :/

5. It will be cheaper, and I am happy to pay the $40 that I payed for it, seeing as it is an excellent game even if you only play the SP portion.

1. Yes it is a marketing stratagy, but you are going to have to get it sooner or later.
2. x-fire is FREE right now, but who says that you'r not going to have to PAY for it tomarrow?
3. What do you mean by "huh". I don't have an xbox, i want to play the campaign and learn the story from my perspective.
4. Where does it say that you need the gold account.
5. I just went on ebay, i saw it for 30 dollers. And if you do buy it, yes you are supporting the possibilty for halo 3 and halo wars to come to the pc.

Here's my view on it...
"Live Anywhere" is a great idea, finally being able to connect Xbox and PC is what a lot of gamers have been hoping for, for a while now. It's about time its been done. However, I really don't think that Live anywhere on Halo 2 Vista justifies a $50 price tag - It's just not worth it. Everything that they want to make us pay for has already been done in other games for free. Now for other games, where you're actually going to be able to utilize all of the features.
The map editor really isn't a big deal... Games have now been shipping with map editors for a long time, it's nothing new like Microsoft is promoting it is.

What is this going to accomplish? A boycott at this point means nothing.

You are bashing Halo 2 on the reason of Live and Vista. Why arent you bashing Shadowrun?

If you dont like it just dont use it yourself.

Shadowrun you can actually play with your xbox friends - and if you want to, you can. it's Xbox Live, it's fair to charge for that. No other company has made that possible. Crysis doesn't use Windows Live, in fact, you don't even have to play it on Vista.

Crysis is not games for windows Live.

Thank god for that. I don't know if I could live with another beautiful game failing on launch because of bug-ridden code and having to pay a monthly fee for something that any other game (like Crysis) would give me for free.

False. There was a beautiful DX10 flythrough made and posted on Gamevideos.com. I watched it yesterday. However, you really can't tell when you're watching it at 300x450 resolution.
**EDIT** : Here's a hi-res downloadable DX10 demo. Can't find the flythrough in hi-res. It was beautiful, though, believe me.

****EDIT NUMERO DOS****: Oh la la. 100 MB DX10 flythrough video. Nerd pr0n.... I'm downloading it right now.

I totally agree with Iron Curtain. If I had a PC capable of running it or the money to buy said PC, I would definitely boycott H2v. That being said, I don't have either, so I guess I'm boycotting it involuntarily. Fine by me.

First of all, this thread is probably not going to be popular.

Now, let's take a look at Halo 2 Vista. Not only do you have to upgrade to Vista to play it (which is $99 at the very least), you have to pay $50 for it. $50 for a mediocre port of a two and a half year old game. What kind of bull-blam!- is that? Not only that, but unless you get a Gold Windows Live account, you're basically playing a demo of Halo 2. Microsoft wants you to pay for stuff that is free in virtually every other PC FPS.

What was Microsoft thinking? Is this really a good way to show off how much they "care" about the PC gaming market, and to promote Windows Live? Microsoft once said that they really "care" about the PC's potential as a gaming platform. This clearly demonstrates the opposite.

Which leads me to my point. Boycott Halo 2 Vista. If you buy Halo 2 Vista, you're supporting this blatant rip-off that Microsoft is trying to pull. If Windows Live becomes popular, in the future, a lot of games might be like Halo 2 Vista. Buy higher quality games like Half-Life 2 or Far Cry, instead. Stick with Halo 1 PC if you must. Just don't support this bull-blam!-.

Edit: As I expected, this thread is going to have a lot of Halo 2 fanboys trying to justify Windows Live. Wake the -blam!- up.

LOL, Have fun with that.

You should have titled your thread: "I hate Halo 2, I hate Microsoft, I hate Bungie, I hate Vista, I hate GFW Live. This is why I'm not going to buy H2V!"

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

2 words: peer pressure. If I had a life I'd probably ignore this game, but as it stands, I don't. I'll end up following the lead of my online friends.

Basically, I already was going to own Vista. I already have an Xbox Live account so it just transfers and I'm good. No problem there. I bought a $50 game so I can play with my friends competitively when they have a keyboard/mouse and I have a controller, something that before could never happen.

1. Live Anywhere can be done on XP. Name one feature that Vista has that XP doesn't that makes Live Anywhere only able to run on Vista.
2. Not going to argue with an opinion.
3. I agree with your agreement with the "huh?".
4. Unless I'm mistaken, you need a Live Gold membership to use the map editor.
5. Not going to argue with an opinion. Buy it if you like, but you're still supporting this -blam!-.

1.Live anywhere colud be done on XP except one problem, other games that are going to use live anywhere NEED to use Vista because of DX10, so Halo 2 HAS to be on Vista to use it.
2.Good for you.
3.I agree.
4.Unless I'm mistaken you are absoulutley WRONG, the Map editor comes with the game.
5.Supporting what -blam!-?
