For Halo 2? Not unless you want achievements and you have a Xbox live account for the 360 already.

It would be stupid to pay 60 bucks (CAD) a year for multiplayer achievements for PC.
Only get Halo 2 for Vista if you want the achievements, you have a 360 live account, and you already have/want/need Vista.

That's all I can say.

No. It's worth switching to Windows Vista merely because it's Windows Vista. And the games. That don't include Halo 2.

Looking at the screenshots remind me of watching a benchmark program from 2003. There was one scene of a field of wheat that was the damn closest thing to real life that I've ever seen on a computer screen.

That's why I said, "It's worth switching to Windows Vista... [for] the games. That don't include Halo 2."

A lot of people really don't seem to like Vista, can anyone tell me why. I'm using it now and there are a few advantages I've seen better than XP Pro. My thoughts on Vista:

1...It starts up faster than XP
2...It's more stable than XP
3...Although it uses up a "little" more system resources, I get better performance both in apps, and games.
4...When a game freezes (has only happened to me with 1 game so far and thats Halo 2) it's a lot easier to open task manager "ctrl-alt-del" where-as in XP a lot of the times task manager would not close my apps.
5...It looks visually better.
6...It's more secure (not that I have had many problems with XP)
7...Although at 1st the security messages that keep popping up everytime you try to install something, or insert a disk gets very, very annoying. Once you disable that feature its perfectly fine.
8...The "alt-tab" feature works a lot better than what it does in XP, especially when you want to "alt-tab" out of a game.
9...I really like how they set out the start menu, and I just found out what the "search" in the start menu does, lol (I know, I'm a little slow to figure it out)
10.A lot of people say that a lot of programs don't support Vista. But all the programs I use are supported so I don't see any problems with that.

And I'm sure there are more advantages that I've yet to see. The only disadvantage I've seen so far are the really crappy NVIDIA drivers for my 7600GT, I am only aloud to use the latest 158.18 drivers. But people say you can get 158.43 (which i tried and it told me that I had "no supporting hardware setting up will now close"), and 160.03 or something which is for XP only or 8800's series only.

It's worth the switch to Vista, but not just for H2V.

An OS cant be judged by one game, but by alot of games. H2V has alot of features that will make newer games better for Vista

Micro$oft is pushing most game developers to support its games for windows and is trying to force out XP support as they did win98se

Bottom line is if you love halo and planned on upgrading in the near future consider vista a sound investment, but if you plan to wait expect less and less new games to support XP as Microsoft pimps Vista as the main supported OS

So either pay M$ for 360 + halo3 or pay for a future investment on your computer

btw if you think halo3 wont be out for vista sooner then later, expect it sooner then the xbox halo2 to PC

What it is.

If you want to play games with DX10, then by all means, upgrade to Vista. Don't upgrade to Vista just for Halo 2 Vista, you'll be a complete joke.

If I'm not mistaken, Crysis doesn't even need Vista to run it. Nor does it even need DX10.

Yeah, but you see, there's this thing called DirectX 10 coming out that's only exclusive for Windows Vista, so, yeah. ;)

Why would you switch to H2V and leave HPC in the dark allyway. Just get Vista get H2PC and keep HPC. I dont see anyreason to leave one without the other. You'll get vista eventually. So what if you pay 50$ a year for achevments. If a remember, you have to pay alot more just to play a decent MP game on the xbox. Its halo 2 with everything from halo 1. It should be good, not great, but good. We don't need ranking, we already have sites dedicated to it.

Thank you. I would like to say, however, that despite DX10's significant improvement in terms of visuals, DX9 still has plenty of life in it. I wouldn't mind playing Crysis on DX9 or DX10 (although I would most certainly prefer the latter).

Oh, Btcc22 is hardly a noob, however.
