i have already noticed that their are alot of angry people in here are mad about halo2 vista. Alot of posts are talking about bugs errors and alot of things.
and how windows live just isn't cutting it. So
Whats the deal? Maybe they shouldn't of moved an old game to a brand new hi tech operating system? Or what ever. In my opinion i don't ever plan on buying halo2 vista cause it sounds to me just plain right dumb with all the expensive hardware and a old 04 game. If they made it xp compatible. Then you would get alot more happy gamers and it would of sold more. But i guess bungie and microsoft is taking the hard path.

"Hi tech brand new operating system" please, do explain whats so "high tech" about Windows Vista.

Let me put it to you this way

1. Windows Vista is horribly made
2. Halo 2 is horribly made.

Combine two bad things, and you get something even worst ;)

Vidiot is right H2V was a farce as soon as it was announced for the pc, all those eon's ago. i will never buy another -blam!- port again, cause lets face it alot of decent franchises have ended up crap because of the console (rainbow six vegas and splinter cell DA) so I dont see how H2V will be any different, and from what ive read on these forums it certainly isnt any different. its -blam!-!

1. Windows Vista is horribly made

Ha.

Ha.

I've been using Vista since it came out, and I couldn't be happier. Don't blame Vista for running poor if you saw it run on a crap computer.

EDIT: I wouldn't classify it as a flop until it officially releases and we see some sales figures. I plan on getting a copy, but from what i've heard, it has an uphill battle to fight.

you pretty much proved my point that you don't know what you're talking about.

1. Windows XP has been called one of the most stable operating systems around by many reviewers and others.

2. Windows Vista fixed many (if not most) of the glitches and errors in XP. Not to mention it's more secure. And as I've said before, I have yet to see a glitch or ''blue screen of death" or anything of that sort.

It's amusing how it's gotten so fashionable for people to bash vista simply because they don't want to drop $99 on it, or get it for free (legally and otherwise), to the point that people with little or no experience just jump on the anti-vista bandwagon.

EDIT: But in all honesty, I don't care if you don't like Vista, and I'm not going to enter into a flame war about it. It's your perrogative to not upgrade, but if you're going to bash it, try coming up with an argument that has some facts behind it, or at least some form of coherance. You're just making the same claims of "ooh, it's a lousy OP!!!!1!" without any fact or even examples of your claim.

Vista is pretty impressive at it's early state. Is it worth 100+ to get it? No not right now, but there are free/discount legal ways to get it if you really wanted.

When XP first came out you heard the same things people are saying about Vista.

Says a person who doesn't have Vista and probably hasn't even run it. Dont hop on the bandwagon if you have no idea what you're talking about. If you're soo blatantly ignorant about the differences between XP and Vista why would you even consider judging it? It's like me saying, "Hey, does anyone know how much Vidiot weighs? I've never seen him before and am wondering," then continuing on to say you're a fat-ass who cant even fit through to door to your house's bathroom.

That's a pretty bad machine, assuming it's running on the netburst architecture which I'm deriving from the video card. Even if the processor was an AMD solution, clockspeeds that low are still low-yield.

oh man you make me laugh :D.

"its been called one of the most stable operating systems around..."

thats funny because, there are pretty much only THREE operating systems! Here is the order from the best, to the worst: Mac OS X > Linux > Windows. They just say Windows is great because there are only 3 other options, so windows is "pretty good compared to the rest"

Its funny how people have a reason to bash windows vista. Like the horrid way it was made. Did you know that Vista still has code from DOS? They just keep patching each new operating system, Apple doesn't do that. They actually come out with a NEW operating system.

here are the requirements for Windows Vista:

# 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
# 1 GB of system memory
# 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
# Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:

* WDDM Driver
* 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
* Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
* 32 bits per pixel

It does the same things that Mac OS X does, yet requires 5 times the power because it was horribly optimized.

Now, THAT (the bolded statement) was funny as hell. H2V doesn't have a chance even if it stood side-by-side with rioting h2v fanboys, and 10 angels directly from God himself. It's that bad.

Xp had very few errors. The one thing vista did wrong was try to be a mac. Now you need 2 gig of ram to effectively game over Vista. Luckly DDR2 Ram is cheap (sadly alot of us are still on DDR1 and have to pay more for ram) If you were to build a Pentium 4 3ghz or higher (129.99) and 4 gig of DDR2 (240.99 ruffly[lots of sales] ) get a motherboard to support that and fans (129.99) a dvd rom drive (29.99) 512 video gpu (204.99), Monitor (69.99) and a harddrive 200gig (99.99) you would spend ($905.93). Thats an insane gameing rig for under $1000 (didnt even factor in sales on all parts just on RAM) Spend $150 on Vista Home Premium or $99 on Home Basic and you are off to the races. Hell you could use old parts from your current pc which would slash cost, but to run vista on a 2 ghz machine with a 128mb video and 1gig of ram is to meat the bare minimum recommended stat for the OS expecting it to do much more than run is a bit stupid. Sure we arent made of money, some are / some arent, but to expect to get the latest and greatest on yesterdays specs is pretty lame. Upgrade or stay with xp. Switch to Linux or Mac and see how your gaming goes. A cpu is a product that constantly needs upgrading to be on par with todays standards. If you dont like that stop gaming and go to word processing. typewriters still do that.

No hes basically saying something that he cant run on his POS system isnt a good OS. He is failing to see what Vista is trying to do / be. Do I have Vista yes, do i prefer XP; Not sure yet. At first glance it runs faster but vista is nicer. Ill probably up grade my pc more to max out vista and have it work better before i claim a winner (my system is a 3.3ghz celeron with 1.5 gig ram and a 512 video card. It spanked Xps requirements, it just makes vistas.)

@Vidiot (I'm not sure how the quoting system works here.)

Lies. I have had Windows Vista Ultimate with Aero glass, and Dream scene on my Toshiba Satellite M50. If you don't know the specs for that computer here they are.

1.5Ghz Celeron
512MB of RAM
55GB hard drive with only 25GB on the partition Vista was installed on.

As for its Graphics card:

Ati Radeon Xpress 200M
64MB of VRAM (Shared)
WDDM Driver
Pixel Shader 2.0

Don't lie Vidiot, its not nice ;)

Ok lets look at those systems then

MAC
LINUX
WINDOWS

Which do you find gaming in abundance on?
...
...
...
wait no patching....
....

Oh yeah you dont find too many games that support Linux without work arounds, Mac is a joke when it comes to gaming. PC is it for that market.

As to the DOS code, if it aint broke dont fix it. People went to space with DOS. Computers were perfected with DOS. Sure graphically they had nothing but DOS was brilliantly simple. Dos rarely crashed without the user tampering with something. I still have DOS 6 computers that run. (windows 3.1 , 3.11 ran over it with no trouble) You do realize M$ bought DOS right (where do you think MS-DOS came from) Its the building block of the PC environment ofcourse they wont ditch it completely. That would make them MAC or LINUX or UNIX. Why would i want to re-learn all the things i know everytime i upgrade. Id rather learn the new stuff that built on the old knowledge.

As to it being horribly optimized.... well thats your opinion. Try to Run Mac OS X on an old Mac form the 80s and see what happens. If you are trying to run vista on the required settings you arent running it for anything ther than business purposes (word processing / file storage) if you want to game on it you will need more than that. its that simple.

Seriously though. i wouldnt call it a flop yet, and i want to know if shadowrun runs smoother than halo2 pc. If it does (and its newer flashier graphics) then halo2 can be considered a flop based on product. but sales numbers determine its status as flop or not.

The vista platform is about 3% of all PC users, Lost planet is going sell better than Halo 2 Vista Why? Because its going to be on both the VISTA and XP platform. As for Vista launch having bugs, has there ever been a flawless OS? nope, Having used DOS3.0 to Vista, I have only got one hard lock up (and that was from Halo 2), Aren't we forgetting about WinME or the early days of WinXP?

No matter how much you want to deny it, Vista is a great OS with a lot of potential.

The few bugs and glitches it has pales in comparison with the awesomeness and features Vista has to offer. Every new system has its flaws and Vistas only been out maybe 6 months. So give it some time.

Halo 2 is a great game. I've had numerous LAN partys with my friends and not a one has turned out Bland. Halo 2 Vista is a great game, with the added map editor and a better community, it has some serious potential.

The only real flaw is the money it costs to have these new games. Vista, WIndows Live, and a nice rig can run up your bill. Luckily, I have all 3 and am loving it. While Vista wasn't tottaly optomized for gaming, you can run like 15 million apps at once without lag. (that was a little exaggeratted, no one could ever be able to click through 15 million apps) It can play games if you've got some good RAM. But, when you say we get the same as X-fire, we also get cross-platform play, stat tracking, those addicting achievements, and more localized system of playing. And more servers.

So for all those reasons, I am going to pick up the copy, rain, sleet, snow, or bouncing a check. RAD OUT
