now i know bungie had taken off the leader boards before because everyone that seemed to be on the leader boards were cheaters, but now since it seems cheaters are gone (atleast for now) i think it would be cool again to have them back, now i know it might take time to set up just to take down if cheaters find a way to get past the patch, but i thinks its also possible to also put the leader boards on hold ( as in close it down but keep the program saved ) until the next patch comes out to stop them for awhile, now i know this might be a little problimatic and annoying for the bungie team to keep doing this, but i think it makes the game for fun to see your name on the leader boards, now i know some people will come back and use it as bragging rights, but for those people, its better to ignore them, but i myself would like to see the leader boards back again, not for bragging rights, but because it is fun to have see your name on there, and fun to have some friendly competitions about it, i was on the leader boards last time, on skirmish before they took it off, and honestly i liked skirmish alot, and the leader boards part kinda had the effect of my friends willing to play it more then usually because they liked to see me higher on it, so it was also a way to get my friends to play the game type i liked more

No, don't you realize that a lot of the reason that cheating is less of a problem now is because the leaderboards are gone? Bring them back and cheating will go rampant.

Not only that, but the top-1000 leaderboards capture only a fraction of a percent of the active gamertags that play a Halo game. To me, it's not really worth it for those of us who know we'll never be in the top 1000 to risk bringing handing cheaters another incentive to cheat.

Good point - but I don't think this is reason enough to not include leaderboards for Halo 3. If the leaderboard tracked things like specific medals / assists / sticks etc in addition to rank / military rank I think they would be a good addition to the halo community.

I disagree again. I think that this would be a horrible addition. Can you imagine playing a game with people who are obsessed with getting certain medals only? So rather than being a productive team member, they grab a vehicle and spend the entire game trying to get splatter kills, or they use no weapon except for plasma and spike grenades, or they play big team objective type games and sit back with a sniper rifle trying to get killing sprees (which are somewhat easier to get in the Big Team objective games) rather than helping their team get the flag. The list goes on, too.

I think that leaderboards add little to the enjoyment of Halo and instead make it stressful for some and annoying for others. I do not want someone to tell me that they can't or don't want to play with me because they might lose and get bounced off the leaderboard.

i wasnt really thinking more on that point, but you do got a point, how about, if a leader boards does come out, it should be a more of a kill/death ratio? that only includes ur kill/death ration of ranked games so ppl cant boost their stats in team training, now this is one even ppl that dont play much can get into, now i did start to relize that maybe ppl can create a alt account and just play 2 games and maybe get like 20 kills to 0 deaths if they are good enough against lower lvls, so maybe only beable to get on leader boards if so many ranked games are played/ kills had? now i know this is still a stupid idea, but i do say if any type of leader boards would be made, this type would be the best, so cheaters dont really stand a chance, considering if they do a amount of games needed to get on or something, cheaters would be found out and banned before the requiered would be met most likely, and this way even ppl that play maybe 2 or 3 times a week can still be on the leader boards

Yeah... I want them back.. Also, as far as I can remember, cheating got worse (indirectly) after they were removed.

I think the real problem is visible 'level' ranks. If you could only see your own, or, better yet, only see what number you are in the world, It'd be a bit hard to flame someone then, eh?
Flamer: 'Stupid noob, you're only number five hundred and sixty-two thousand, nine hundred and three, I'm way better than you, I'm number five hundred and sixty-two thousand, four hundred and eighty-eight!'
Target: 'Actually, your rank dropped several thousand places while you were talking.'
Everyone else: 'LOL'

ya, cheating kinda did go up after the leader boards were removed, prolly has no relativity, but just because more people found out how to cheat, the visible level as someone said before is the main reason why people cheat, but i still would like to see the leader boards up, cause no matter wether they put them back up or not, cheating will still be there, and i think bungie should start doing like, if someone gets banned for cheating, in the games that the cheated on ( if possible to find out with a 95%+ or more accurate ) then everyone that played with them for 5 or so straight games also gets banned, cause most likely the people that get banned are just boosting up the people they were with in those games

I have, it was called "Gears of War". Yes, there were some idiots who only used the hammer of dawn but at the end of the day everybody still played to win and it wasn't a problem.

I'll take leaderboards if they're given out but I'm not going to campaign rabidly for them.
