bah

Many girls play video games. The proportion of girls to guys playing video games is higher than the proportion of girls to guys in these forums though. This is for two reasons I think:
1. Guys just generally feel safer posting crap online.
2. Most girls don't want people to know they are girls, not for fear of rejection, but for the fear of all the cr(ee)appy love poems they'll get from horney gamers. :)
They will get love poems, and frankly, I've read plenty poems written by teenagers and 99% of them suck. Before you post a poem, please read a good poem first, then compare your poem to the good one.

I know of several girls who play the games. They don't own the systems, and they were introduced to the game by guys, but I do know quite a few.

Well I'm a chick. And I don't make mention of it often, cause thats not what these forums are about. They're about people who like to play (in this case Halo).

I agree Rip. To me at least, it seems that most girls just aren't comfertable using forums. Either lack of knowledge of forums and how they work, the creepy unwanted attention factor, or to be honest, they don't even know the forums exist. But trust me, there are quite a few of us out there who are none of those things. I post mostly over at HBO, and in fact asked this same question a few weeks ago, just out of interest. While there were only 2 or 3 girls including myself (at least when the message was posted - I'm also Australian), I think there are HEAPS more girls that are into games than are on the forums. I'm just one of those girls who happens to be fanatically devoted to my few games :)

There are as many different types of girls as there is types of guys. There's your jocks, your rich kids, your stoners, people who like maths, science, painting.... and games. Fundamentally (in this day and age) it's very ignorant to say that girls don't like games, or that they're too busy doing their hair to play. It's also disrespectful and rude. One of my main concerns in all this is RESPECT. I far prefer to remain anonomus and have people respect what I have to say, than have people ignore me or look down on me because I'm female. I have my own likes, dislikes, and fellas, like it or not. I have talent and smarts. yes I care about my apperance (as do many guys), yes I have other interests. But I also love, play and own certian games, and I can definatly hold my own in the game and forum arena.

Though I must admit, it is nice when all the guys at a lan look after you cause youre the only girl! (been there more than once!)

I'm a girl, and I don't bother with makeup or anything besides washing and brushing my hair before I go out. No styling, no beautification, nothing. I play video games with my guy friends, and I end up beating them a good percent of the time.

Yeah, my ex is into Halo too, the only difference is I had nothing to do with it. She was also almost always on my team like you said, but the difference is I don't think she had time to play very often so I was always pickin up the slack.

But I'm pretty good so picking up the slack just adds more challenge.

Challenge = fun.

Not ALWAYS on your team. You and Baxy like to be on a team by yourselves sometimes. Or sometimes just you against everyone >.>

This "off topic" topic is getting kind of off topic. lol I wonder why thier aren't more girls playing these games. I guess Microsoft would like to know that too. haha.But why would video games be so appealing to guys? It's probably because guys tend to be more agrresive and therefore take more pleasure in shooting things. Although this theory doesn't mean much because I have met many aggresive girls.
