I have been playing games on the PC for nearly 10 years without ever having an issue mapping a key to a certain function. It seems that MS, in all its wisdom, has decided that they were going to change the industry. They have made it impossible to map the "E" key to "move forward" in Halo 2 for vista. While this may seem like a minor thing, anyone who uses a keyboard/mouse to game knows that changing how one does things in a game where split second decisions and reactions are critical isn't an easy thing. Now while I am relatively computer savvy, I do not know the ins and outs of software or the registry well enough to find a back door fix for this.

Before you ask, I have already removed all other functions mapped to "E", and still have the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

It gives you a couple more keys to work with on the left side of your hand. I had a hell of a time getting my keys working my way with H1 PC.

Yeah, how dare he be different! I can't believe the nerve of this guy, that he would alter the control scheme to meet his style and preference! What a jerk.

Wait.. You mean I wont be able to set it up like I set all my FPS games up? I have E key as jump as it's easily accessible and used more so than the action key which I make space bar key. I also have grenades set to C key, change grenades to F key and right click is melee (I use it more than nades so I like it quickly accessible).

That's bull-blam!-.

It's the default setup for movement keys in any modern first-person shooter, so most of us use it, yes.

i actually use wqse

w forward q strafe left s back e strafe right and it seems just impossible for halo 2 vista to do this for me.

i have to resort to my 360 controller just because i cant get used to that small difference.

made me look like a fool when i tell my friends mouse and keyboard is superior and they walk in my room and im using a gamepad

I have to use the 360 controller because I cant make "E" jump, havnt even bothered trying my other binds like switch weapon as mouse 5, etc. This is ridiculous. Hopefully they will fix this by the time halo 3 beta is over, I wont be playin much of this until then anyway.
