OK. What everyone here says is interesting and plausible. Personally, I favor the idea that there is a new batch of Spartan 3s in (dare I say it?) Halo 2. However, in Halo: First Strike, it says that Dr. Halsey takes Kelley with her. Kelley is too badly injured for bio-foam. What I assume is, is that Kelley becomes a Spartan 3.
Spartan 2's are just augmented spartans. MC was a spartan, then after the augmentation with the super bones and stuff, he became a Spartan 2. Kelley is now a badly injured Spartan 2, could she become even more augmented from lessons from the first transition and become the 3rd series Spartan?
Just my 2 cents.
PS. Bungie, if I perchance hit the nail on the head, you can keep me silent by sending me the advance release for Halo 2. You know, just sayin'.
I'm not too sure if Spartan-3s are augmented Spartan-2s, in fact I highly doubt it myself, but who knows. You could be right. Though it seems unlikely; especially with the talk that CPO Mendez went off when the Spartan-2s were 14 to go train a new batch of Spartans, in my opinion it seems more likely that Spartan-3s are the same as Spartan-2s, just a new batch. Actually though who knows, you could be correct, a new project might mean a whole new interface. Anyway, also additionally, Kelly wasn't suffering greatly. She was knocked out by Dr. Halsey who tricked her by injecting her with a sedative instead of a certain chemical. In fact Kelly was pretty much fine at that point.
