Subject: Can super jumps get someone banned?

This is probly an old subject but I just found out about superjumps and have learned a few and wanted to know if they were considered grounds for getting banned from xbox live? And if anyone can give me a link or something to Bungie addressing superjumps please do.

Actually, if I recall correctly, Bungie has never stated that it was "cheating" to superbounce.
You can't get banned by doing the bounces.
They've done there part to insure that bounces won't appear in Halo3.
But go ahead and bounce as you please, just try not to be cheap about it and/or leave maps.
It could lead you into doing something banhammer-able.

mmm, this is a tasty burger

nah, why would they ban someone for just jumping. Thats like banning someone for jumping on a trampoline(if that's how you spell it). But I'm pretty sure they don't really like it when people superbounce even know it's pretty fun.

Life can be dangerous
╔╗╔══╦╦╦╦╗

Before it wasn't cheating now it is.

It's cheating, but you can't get banned for it--it's untraceable. And it's too common.

Booyah!

you CAN get banned for it, Bungie cant ban you using their Banhammer, because their system cant detect that, just like bxr glitches, but if enough people leave you enough feedback, you will get banned, according to XBL, exploiting a glitch is cheating therefore superbouncing can get you banned

well my other gamer tag is modding all map. sure i dont mod but my names been like that for a year. I get loads of cheating feedback. Bungie doesnt ban you for cheating feedback they just inspect your games more to see if ur cheating. its not a garanteed ban they just watch you like mj watches 12yr olds.

Booyah!

youre mistaken, Bungie doesnt do crap about feedback against you, XBox Live does, and they WILL get you banned eventually,

The question is, Is Super jumping really a glitch. It seems like it was put in the game on purpose to me.

This is a link to Halo 2 Cheating FAQ

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/content.aspx?link=h2cheating

This was all I could find about this subject, but there maybe more info about it in the code of conduct, or terms of use, here or on xbox.com. My advice would be not to try something that could get you banned unless you have no problem with starting a new account. To my understanding it is a glitch in the game and bungie has stated that exploiting glitches in the game to gain an unfair advantage over another person/team is considered cheating, and a bannable offense.

Thanks for the link DR WE1RD, I just read it and it does not state that superjumping is cheating but it does state superjumping is "...something that's basically built into the map." So they are not banning people for doing it.

in the cheating post bungie made they said button glitches and bounces are NOT GROUNDS FOR BANNING. " simply because its too widespread, untracable onless caught on video, and it doesnt give ur team an unbeatable advantage, the same thing for BxR and BxB and RRX and RRXYYRRX.
The cheating FAQ isn't written clearly/is outdated. It only pertains to the banhammer and what Bungie will ban for. Achronos himself has made it perfectly clear on these forums that violating the xbox live terms of use (ie. exploiting a glitch) is cheating and the way to handle it is by leaving feedback. The only way to get banned for superjumping is to gain too much feedback. Yes people have the right to leave feedback on you. If you feel it's worth the risk then that's up to the individual. In my opinion superjumping is pretty lame to use in matchmaking.

you cannot be banned for doing superjumps its a glitch in the game, its considered cheating but they cant ban you for it, It would take 30 or more cheating feedback

Its not untraceable if you go and review the games it would look kinda funny if it showed a kill from the top of the buildings on zanzibar.... only one way i know to get up there....

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Bungie considers superjumping, button glitches, or any other kind of code or network manipulation to be cheating. With that being said, they are not banning people who exploit those particular glitches. They don't like it that you use them, but they won't stop you from using them.

However, quite a few people think its cheap, and we all know how people on live behave if they think they've been cheated.

Now onto the reason I'm posting this. Although Bungie doesn't ban you from MM for using those glitches, its still cheating, and no one is allowed to discuss cheating on these boards. So, I'm locking this thread.
