Subject: Which of the two games has a better campaign? Do you have more fun ...

The 1 and only thing that I have to bring up to people when they try to argue that Halo 2's campaign was better is this. When the game ended did you feel satisfied or were you scratching your head wondering what happened? That usually shuts them up real fast.

WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT HALO 1 CAMPAIGN? some long and boring levels just repeat themselves (eg assault on the control room and truth and reconciliation)

Not for anything, Halo 1's campaign gave you a sense of awe and wonder.

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

H2's campaign is more fun to play. Hands down.

Why do people like Halo 1 better? Reply below.

Story, story, story!
and the fact that the first one was so unique and interesting.
h2 just wasn't as fun. i mean it was fun but not as fun.
both games had there problems, but h2 just felt a bit rushed and theres alot of glitches and stuff.

again... halo 3 will be they greatest game ever made.
i jsut hate having to wait for it

Halo 1 feels more epic.

Halo 2 just feels like loads of Skirmishes, Halo 1 has battles. Halo 1 is more open giving a sense of a battlefield too. Start of Silent Cartographer? AoTCR after taking down the 2 Hunters, end of 343 Guilty Spark, Two Betrayals, The Maw.

Plus Halo 1 has the greatest level ever. The Maw.

One thing sucked about Halo 1's campaign: The Library.

What I hated in Halo 2 was how they changed the way Elites moved. They got humanized, I didn't mind them speaking in English, but they moved like Aliens in Halo 1, now they don't.

Plus in Halo 1 when the difficulty increased it seemed like the AI was more accurate and aggressive and overall smarter rather then on Halo 2 where weapons just do more damage, and minors are replaced with major elites. etc

BUMPTACULAR!!!

What is that, nearly a month? You ought to be ashamed, you thread necromancer.

Anyway, that's the most inaccurate use of the phrase 'hands down' I've ever heard, because the majority of halo players are in agreement that the campaign was more fun in halo 1.

Bigger, less linear levels, with a greater sense of scale and space.
More numerous enemies, and larger battles.
A more focused and coherent storyline, which moves the action forward rather than splitting it up.
No bosses, a brave and effective move.
More polish and more atmosphere.

Those are the main reasons I, and many others, have replayed Halo 1's campaign many many many more times than Halo 2's.

Thread necromancer. Thats awesome. I'm using that one in the future. :D

I forgot to mention bosses. They replaced bosses with badass battles, or a rendezvous point with epic goodness reaching it, or how can I explain it? There's no other FPS that has an ending like the Maw...

Yeah, RhymeKiller, you explain exactly how better Halo 1 is compared to Halo 2, now nobody needs to reply how Halo 1 is better.

Halo 2's campaign was a lot of fun, but wasn't as good as Halo 1's. Not for anything, Halo 2 had many vast, large levels with a great deal of enemies. Halo 2's storyline was a tie-in, so don't get pissy because a thing or two was left unanswered. The boss thing in Halo 2 could have better, but as the levels went on, enemies became more dangerous, especially when new ones were reveled.

The one getting pissy here is the one being defensive, my friend.

I wasn't even referring to the ending, I was referring to the events in the story and the jumping between characters.

Although - "it's a tie-in" is a meaningless, hollow excuse. What exactly does that mean? That there is a good reason for it not being as enjoyable?! If you're going to say it wasn't quite as enjoyable, there IS no excuse. The ends justify the means - the means don't justify the ends!

The boss thing in Halo 2 could have better, but as the levels went on, enemies became more dangerous, especially when new ones were reveled.
All you have is excuses. The facts don't lie, and the facts say the cheesy old-style bosses weren't as well-received.

Why not just say what you liked instead, and leave it at that? You aren't doing your cause any favours by saying that there are reasons why something isn't as good is there instead of something that is. All that says is that those reasons should have given way to what was more important. They made the game the way it is and the way they wanted to do it. They aren't working off some kind of untouchable script written by somebody else, within which they are tightly bound - it is all their work.

You're acting like I'm saying Halo 2's campaign was -blam!-. I'm not saying that, I did enjoy it and it has some really good bits. I'm just saying why most people didn't think it was as good. You can argue with that if you like but you can't change people's enjoyment retroactively with an explanation or attempts at justification, you know.

  • 07.06.2007 5:54 AM PDT

The BIGGEST problem of the Halo 2 campaign is the fact that they TOTALLY sold out. In Halo 1 did you ever run into a "Main Bad Guy"? NNNOOOOO!!!!!!!! In Halo 2 the fact that they had "MBGs" pissed me off SSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO much. And the fact that Halo 1 when it ended you actually felt like you acomplished something. And when Halo 2 ended it felt like tub girl just left your mouth.

do a search for Tub Girl for the full concept.

Ok, let's call it like this. You have your opinions, I have mine, let's keep it like that. In fact, I'll delete what I wrote last.

P.S., sorry for attacking you, nobody has any business doing so to anyone.

Hey you saw my sig! :)
Their was a time when this was under a post. Simpler times; no Halo 3 Forum and no search. Simpler times. Happy about search though.

They are both great to me.

Halo 1 was much funner, the flood was better, overall more of a challenge, (no BXR, RRX) In halo 2 the flood had shields, could drive and board vehicals, what was up with that???

Both are pretty crappy to me. I think the Halo series is just for multiplayer (which is great by the way). The levels just appear boring, and repeatitive to me. Feels like a shooting range and not an enviornment. Story is good, just the gameplay itself is bad. Played alot better single player games. I prefer Metroid over this.

Halo

  • 07.13.2007 9:07 AM PDT

I believe halo and halo 2 can't really be compared, they both have their own keypoints and mistakes. But, if I had to choose, I liked halo 2 better. And for the love of god would you stop making threads like this, its been almost 3 years since H2 came out and 6 years since halo came out. Its an old subject and should banished forever.

That made Quarentine Zone really fun if you took your sweet time with it and didn't use any vehicles
