Halo 1 and Halo 2 are both good games, but there are some things to point out.

Halo 1
Realistic action times
Easier gameplay (legendary, compared to Halo 2)
No huge glitches/tricks
and thats pretty much for Halo 1

Halo 2
Faster than normal actions
Much harder gameplay (heroic and legendary, especially Co-op)
Lunges with Melee
Large amount of glitches and tricks (examples: Superjump, Scarab Gun, Skulls, etc)
Destructible vehicles, environment, etc.

Honestly Halo 1 seems more realistic, except the graphic glitches and such, than Halo 2. Easier Gameplay makes it very comparible to Halo 2 considering most ppl would not like to play an easier game. But Halo 2 is different in other ways, in the good sense. Better Graphics and harder campaign makes is fun and exciting.

I think that Halo 1 is slightly better than Halo 2, due to realistic and easier gameplay. I honestly thing the easier gameplay is more fun. After playing Halo 2, forever I honestly think its more fun to kill enemies in Halo 1 with like 1 melee and such. Plus Hunters are sooooo easy.

Because of Halo 2 glitches which make the game easier, some ppl always use such shortcuts that they never stick to the real gameplay.

Here is a video that compares Halo to Halo 2. Its on Multiplayer but still, most things is multiplayer apply to the campaign

ok... little kids dont get the Halo 2 storyline. They are used to Cortana telling them that a warthogs has wheels kinda story, Halo 2's you have to listen to get it.

"You must face the truth squarely and without flinching from duty. Our enemies are mortal no longer. Mercy for such as they is a chimera, self-deception is its only ally. Dedicate this weapon, given unto your hand at the behest of the Emperor, to their destruction. Regard its function as your only duty: you live only to bring cleansing fire."

Halo CE has a better campaign BY FAR. Look at levels like AOTCR and Truth and Reconciliation, so many "moments" there what with gold elites running after you and what not. Then look at Halo 2 and tell me a level like Outskirts or Quarentine Zone is better. Halo 2 was great but it will never add up to fighting 6 goldies on Trutha nd reconciliation on legendary with a friend.

Halo 1 had BY FAR the best single player, before the age of xbox live, single player was the one thing I had to occupy myself with, and multiplayer with my friends was a rare treat. I understand that that statement may lead you to believe that I am a "loner" of sorts, but i was 11-13 at the time and my mummy and daddy wouldn't allow me to have friends round more than once a week :P Anyway! Enough of that.

To the point. As many people have addressed, HaloCE had the "Oom-Ting", that made you actually shout out when you did some totally awesome manovour. I've been on some massive halo rampage recently due to Halo 3being so close *screams*, and have managed to power house through both the halo 1 and 2 single players, and heres my verdict. They are both equal on the difficulties of easy, normal and perhaps herioc if you're good, but any sissy that plays on those difficulties needs to step away from his/her console and rethink his morals. Its just wrong. When you play on legendary, in my experience, you die alot :P but its all part of the fun, as in halo 1 I found it a pleasure to replay it, it was a treat if I died. Sometimes I even died on purpose so I could redo it, to either regain a lost weapon or to simply kick the covenants behind in a more stylish way. Whereas in Halo 2, despite the fact that the legendary is no where near as difficult (I find) you still manage to die a more than reasonable amount of times, and I found that i didn't really want to replay it. There was no epic desire to complete the level, more of a deep rooted loyalty to master chief and his sexy body that sort of guilted me into playing. Halo 2 went way and beyond with its multiplayer, and to this day remains one of the best games around, but the scale of halo2 wasn't so awe-inspiring, and didn't whack me chest, causing my jaw to drop. I had to wait till I got a shotgun to have any fun. Whereas the assault rifle kept me awake and killing for much longer, not to mention sniper kills being 10x as rewarding.

I think Halo 2 was never going to be as good or better, as the hopes were too high and the hype was too much, but the single player remains better than most, and is quite fun on normal or herioc if you simply want to slaughter things and watch the plot unfold once more, which I must say! Halo2 had a totally orgasmic story line, on par with haloCE, but the gameplay didn't have the "smack me silly" impact to go with it. Secondly, the flood with a complete an utter disapointment in Halo2, which was a real upset, as legendary Library with Halo1 was one of the best levels to do with a friend, whereas not the flood are just bloody annoying and they over did the sentinals. And Arbitor!!!? get back! You are no Spartan! Despite what I just said, the Arbitor is cool but he's been put on the same pedestal as Chiefy baby, and it just ain't workin'

Spazbucket Out.

i agree with spazbucket's monologue. in halo ce there was always a new way to beat it, whether it be throwing more plasma grenades, or just picking up that shotgun you missed. and the story always had you coming back for more. in halo 2 you have to use the same strategy every time, and i just didnt feel like the story was that compelling. the easter eggs in halo 2 kind of add a little replay value though.

I would say Halo CE: had a more memorable campaign. Halo 2's multiplayer more than makes up for any Single Player short comings.

I like Halo 2 because it's the Masterchief versus the Covenant. In Halo 2 it's the Masterchief versus the Covenant and half the time the enemy versus itself and the Flood.

i enjoyed halo 1 more than halo 2. single player is a big thing for me, and mostly it was about the way the game feels.

halo 1 felt like it was really well planned and thought out. halo 2 i thought the story was pretty sloppy. the story didn't progress enough to the point where you felt you accomplished something. you just had these two half-stories.

in halo 2 the human voice acting was pretty bad. mostly lord hood, the chief, and miranda keyes. i thought the covenant voice acting was excellent tho. i hated the gravemind and the way it spoke in rhyming verse.

the vehicles in halo 1 had a certain weight to them that was important. you felt like you were driving an actual armor plated warthog or tank. they felt like they had weight. in halo 2 these vehicles felt like they were made out of cheap plastics and flew all over the place.

some of the cut scenes in halo 2 had this weird effect like the details of the scene would come in later. (notably when the chief is in the elevator to disable the covenant bomb.) some characters would dissappear before the scene ended. (the arbiter and half-jaw as he entered the forerunner installation.)

lastly i didn't like the arbiter's look. mostly because whenever i saw his jaw i would think how it looked like fat fingers. also when you zoom in with the right joystick and see through the arbiter's "helmet" it's just this weird circle. the master chief's zoom view made sense cause he has that kind of visor, but why would the arbitor's view be some strange circle?

but halo 2 multiplayer just completely redefined console fps. sooo, yeah. i loved halo 2, just had a lot of minor gripes/issues.

but i liked halo 1 more.

Maybe little kids don't.

But then, maybe they just don't find it that fun.

I prefer Halo: CE's Campaign.

Another thing, though, is the way that a lot of the enemies spawned. In halo they were pre-spawned and you could approach the battle different ways. A lot of the time in H2 they spawned as soon as you crossed a certain point, right in front of you.
