Well, theres actually always pro's and con's when comparing two games, remember.
GoW has a nice idea, and weapon balance is not as bad as some people say. the PROBLEM with gears, is that it has been too "packed" full of constant updates, which "fixed" the problems.
they just made more..
Gears of War has CRAZY host. Pretty much unstoppable, which makes it even worse when you consider the Shotgun and how it is a spawn weapon. GoW had good intentions with the "active reload", and wanted to make it somewhat...realistic (except for the extra dmg part, aha). People abused this ability and in turn, it made gameplay alot less fun. People are very -blam!- in gears. If you go into a ranked match with, i'd say, average players, and you do worse, you suddenly get all the blame, DESPITE there are 3 people other than you on one team. I'd say above all else, the only Idea i enjoy about GoW is the "cover" system. Its a great idea and can be used to implement multiple tactics, unlike some games which are just Run and Kill. (unless you're host >.>)
Now, i'll be honost, and from both experiences, Halo 2 has ALOT more "trash" talk in the game. Halo 2's multiplayer gameplay and weapon balance can be ALOT more one sided, to the extent, which is obviously, mass spawnkilling (which is quite hard in GoW due to the fact there is no spawning, with the execption of Annex) But, Halo 2 has more strategies to complete the "mission", and easily, is alot more fun because there is so many more choices of game-types to play, and with Bungies MatchMaking system, it gives people a chance to at least play one of each type, except Juggernaut (which they should add. HINT HINT). Halo 2 is still my favorite, but you cannot just judge two games and be so biast towards one just because YOU dont like the way that they made it. You must ALWAYS, especially if you're a hardcore gamer, think of the Pro's and Con's.
