jumping has a predictible arc. It's suicide.

Strafe "weave the needle" style. Using simple strafes can't compensate for a Battle Rifles auto assist or an SMGs automatic fire. It's never good to go out in the open though, Always stay near familiar cover. Like the doors of Turf or the catwalks of Lockout.

Strafe, jumping may seem like a good idea, but it's not.

A big part to success in Halo 3 or and Halo game is not getting frustrated when you feel you've been killed unjustly. Stay solid, and realize that its easier for you to come back when the other guys cant control their anger and frustration. Its hard to aim when your an emotional wreck :)

Strafing is the way to go, since you can make them think theres a pattern to your strafing but quickly move the other way. Like, left, right, left, right, right, left, right. Its way easier to throw someone off.

Make your strafe unpredictable a good "Battlerifle" is 75% strafe 25% keeping your reticule on the head. IF you have an unpredicatable strafe like left longer right left pause right hug wall etc... and if your in a br fight and the opponent shoots you first i would strafe till your down to 1 shot shield energy and jump to the side. Thats the only time i would jump.

Carrots.

none. Hide behind a box and go long range or medium. the box will cover your whole body with the exception of your head.

By the way, use the spider style if you really need a good way to win.

Onyx pre-season! That's all that matters.

Current United States Marine Corps Poolee/Recruit

I prefer a combo during some insidences.
1. During a long range attack (such as a sniper rifle attack) I would try my hardest to strafe until I got to boxes/rocks. I would then Proceed to retaliate fire.
2. During a mid-range attack (suchs as BR or Carbine) I would strafe until close, jump, and attack from above.
3. During a close range attack (such as sword or shot-gun) I would jump/crouch then pray I could stick him...heh =)
4. Halfway across map attack (sniper shooting in Coagulation) I would hope in a Banshee and plough that -blam- sniper into the ground then take his weapons =P.

A combonation of the both works well. Whilst in 1v1 combat with a br of some other weapon and I'm getting beaten I usually jump to the left of right and do the Ghandi.

jumping because you can get nearly anywhere and the auto-aim only goes so high

Depends on how you fight. If your best idea of trying to survive is to do either of them, then you're more than likely dead anyway. The best idea is to run, trying to bait your enemy into following you and messing him up as he turns a corner. Either that or if you are too close, punch them in the face and jump over their head.

Just strafing is easy to kill, and only jumping is easy to kill. The better options would be to run away or to get in his face and confuse him.

"Paradox is a pointer telling you to look beyond it. If paradoxes bother you, that betrays your deep desire for absolutes. The relativist treats a paradox merely as interesting, perhaps amusing, or even, dreadful thought, educational." - Leto II

It really depends on the situation. Being an Elite, if I know I'm losing the battle, I will often times simply turn around (to make that headshot more difficult), find cover, and then attempt to set a grenade trap, or just simply throw grenades in a time-buying effort to get my shields back.

That's the same reason I play as an elite, too.

no, he's right. I can't snipe at all, ill shoot 4 shots and miss if they're strafing. If they take one jump though, BAM headshot. you just have so much time to line it up, it really is suicide.

A combination of both of them, gandhi hopping is...eh. Still quite predictable, i say, mix your strafe with some unexpected crouching, then gandhi hop to get your last one of two shots in, hell, maybe even throw in a double shot if your good enough to pull it off. If done right, you can out BR people with no shields. Well, you could also just resort to double shotting in the beginning, and skip over all that mucking in strafe.
