So this makes me wonder.

Will the beta with it's reduced auto aim and lesser baby assisted elements make me better at Halo 2 or in fact worse. What do you guys think?

I mean, someone transitions from sweep shooting and super bullet magnetism to the more accuracy based H3 for the duration of the beta, then returns to H2 and all it's kid friendly physics features.

I think it will in fact seem easier to play after playing something closer to combat evolved as far as marksmanship is concerned.

it's made me alot better. I mean I was decent at first the only thing that bothers me from going back and forth is buttons and button placement and their jobs. As far as aiming is concerned I feel more precise.

Yeah man, going from halo 2 to 3's controls were like learning to ride a bike all over again. I've lost count of how many time's I've pulled a homer and killed myself with a trip-mine trying to re-load.

:S

In the beginning I did it not once, or twice, but THRICE in one round.

I kinda agree with that only kinda because i have seen the occasional 4 v 1 , because the rest of the guys team left cause they are noobs who hate loosing. anywho and one guy just pwns the other 4. SO I agree with ya but I think there is some show off to halo 2

Oh trust me, teamwork and communication are more than likely more important in 3, than 2. I'm all too aware of the need for teamwork. My thought was mostly regarding firing weapons. It might be a little awkward at first for me, who knows.

Actually I can't wait to get back to Halo 2. I havent played MM since the stat reset and the new maps were dropped into the playlists.

Don't hold your breathe they are fun but not an amazing addition. Not something i was really happy about losing my rank to. Tombstone has become the MM favorite for the server to pick :-( where did all the good maps GOOOO!

Halo is Halo dude, as an avid gamer, you won't feel that big of a difference. The only issue for me, you know how you save time by holding X before you even come up on the gun/vehicle.. well I would hold RB as I ran to warthog then sit there dumb staring into it wondering why Chief hadn't hopped in yet... then realize I was holding the wrong FREAKING button.

i've never played beta, but i would probly agree. Because i met this modder which i reported that was in machmaking that modified his maps so there's no auto aim what-so-ever. So it was alot harder.

I agree that there isnt MUCH of a difference but having the assualt riffle as the beginning weapon. Only being able to have one needler and so on and so forth there is alot that has changed that people will most likely quickly adapt to. One of the hardest as everyone has stated is the buttons because we are adding two shoulder buttons and getting rid of the hard to use black and white. THANK GOD THANK YOU BUNGIE! :-D and as well I know how you feel.... just think how it would look if in RL you would just go up to your car and stand there cause you can't remember what command opened your door. We would all laugh!

It's a lot easier, but the button switches mess me up...

A big part to success in Halo 3 or and Halo game is not getting frustrated when you feel you've been killed unjustly. Stay solid, and realize that its easier for you to come back when the other guys cant control their anger and frustration. Its hard to aim when your an emotional wreck :)

I already went through what your asking about, and the answer in my opinion is yes. The only problem I had though, like some others aswell, was getting used to picking up weapons with X button. But it eventually goes back to instinct, and you'll be doing fine again. Im not sure if it was just me, or if it'll effect others too, but I seemed to play Halo 2 alot better. I felt like Halo 3 required more tactic since all the weapons are nicely balanced, and you can't go flying into rooms because you knew you could beat them without a fight. I then brought the tactic into Halo 2, and I made smarter decisions.

Try this argument in a courtroom and see where you go:

"I don't consider theft a crime because it is easy to accomplish. Don't be hating on me judge just because you don't have the skill to do it!"

I haven't touched H2 since I got Guitar Hero 2

Well said. That's exactly what happened for me too.

there is not point in saying hey i got a 40- HIGH RANK MEANS NOTHING, it means you either bridged host or cheated...and the skillfull player like myself have 27s cause of cheating.

I'm bored of the beta, matchmaking can only hold me so long.

The transition from Halo 2 to Halo 3 hasn't been nearly as dramatic as everyone makes it seem. Although, admittedly I haven't played a ton of games of Halo 3 (maybe 35), it hasn't really affected my Halo 2 skills as much. With the ranks still not showing exactly how good you are, or not really matching you with players of equal skill on Halo 2, it's hard to judge whether or not I've changed or just remained the same.

"Paradox is a pointer telling you to look beyond it. If paradoxes bother you, that betrays your deep desire for absolutes. The relativist treats a paradox merely as interesting, perhaps amusing, or even, dreadful thought, educational." - Leto II

I had a pretty easy time transitioning from 2 to 3. The big things seem to be sweeping doesn't work as well (but I've encountered that before when going back to Halo 1), and the new control layout, which is actually incredibly inuitive to adapt to. However, when I went back to 2, I had huge problems for one game, and then was fine. I just couldn't shoot the BR for one game, then all of the sudden it all came back to me. I can't really explain that though.

WOW, a 40 day gap b/w posts. WOW!!!

Anyways, that probably will not be true. Halo 3 will level the playing field again. People who are good at video games will be good. People who practice will get better, just like any other game.
