Is it just me or is there about 50 players in this game? Seems rather dead.

but the amount of players I see right now seems way too low. It has barely doubled from the time people got it from CC before it was supposed to be released.

" Why so many less players? "

Yeah that makes tons of sense

Anyways, the game is really dead right now, even after 5 days from release, I suspect it will get more popular over time but right now it's dead. There's usually around 50 servers and only one is dedicated.

Think about it this way:

Vista's fairly new,
Halo 2's been out for 3 years,
Halo 2 Vista's new.

That and, not many people have been giving this a thumbs up, which is dissapointing. Go to ebgames.com, or gamestop.com and look at the user's reviews/previews... It's sad.

Halo 2 Vista's Great in my opinion!

I've played against you quite a bit since it came out at CC on like the 19th, why would you want to sell your's?

The LIVE screen is misleading it does not show the total number of players playing and by default your not seeing the full servers, only the ones with room to join. There maybe 5 or 6 full servers your not seeing.

Halo 2 Vista isn't out yet in Europe, will come out this week, that might be another reason.

Lots of folk have no plans on going Vista for a year or more. It may well cripple this title.

MS views this game as an incentive to get people to goto Vista.

They are thinking success of the OS, not of the game. If this game tanks its nothing compared to the Vista cash cow.
That is evident by the number of complaints and not a single comment from HG or MS about addressing those issues.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

I guess I will try to drop it like a bad compensation then.

Frog Blast the Vent Core!

People probably got discouraged from buying it after the erratic release. If it was on one offical day, there would probably be a lot more people playing right now.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

According to the latest Valve Steam survey, only about 5% of reported gamers are using Vista.

Only about 1% are using Vista with a DX10 compliant display adaptor.

I bought H2 yesterday, and there are very few people playing the game so far. On the other hand, coming from the PC, the game is ridiculously easy. In my first online game I took 2nd place, and there were a handful of good players. The real issue is learning the maps, and getting to know the weapons.

The biggest surprise to me about the game is the bad graphics. Yes, they really are that bad in the campaign, the MP looks a bit more polished.

The game is also poorly optimized for the available hardware, and nVidia needs to get SLI working.

I agree wholeheartedly.

My largest issue with H2V is the "V" part.

Ok, I admit that it's Microsoft's right to decide what OS their game studio games will run on, but for an insanely popular franchise like Halo, the idea of limiting it to the newest OS (and therefore to the smallest segment of PC gamers who also embrace new technology) is bothersome.

Unless Games for Windows Live needs some kind of DX10 support (doubtful), there really was no reason to limit Halo 2 to Vista only other than to try to drive sales of the OS. I'm only guessing that Microsoft doesn't care that people who want to play but are skeptical of Vista won't ever get the chance to play until Vista proves itself stable for the masses. If most people use what I call the "business benchmark" (when most businesses feel confident enough to move to a new OS), Vista won't be widespread for a year or longer.

I want to sell my copy because I'm pretty much bored of it. And that I can barely find decent games anymore since most of the few servers are all running crappy games like all rockets or swords or even worse, fiesta oddball etc etc.

Wow, did anyone seriously think this would be a success? There are to few news for anyone to play a 3 year old game that requires Vista and lots of other stuff. When Halo 1 PC was released, it had many news that was worthy of playing it. Online that was completly new, new weapons and vehicles and maps. This version has almost nothing new, and on the contrary is thinner than its Xbox version. They removed co-op, clans and matchmaking. What about bringing some new stuff to recruit players from the past? Online co-op, new maps and weapons, maybe some new single player missions?

odd, I just read in a magizine that so far theres been 20 million Vista liscences sold so far, while in the same time period XP only sold something such as 18 million. I guess not alot of gamers going for Vista? :\

Well, here's a way to look at it.

Those are raw numbers. What we really need to know is:

How many Vista licenses have been sold as individual sales (ie. when you buy the OS alone) vs. how many licenses have been sold as part of computer manufacturer installation deals? Since most major PC manufacturers switched to offering Vista as soon as it was possible (no doubt pressured by Microsoft to do so), I'd venture to say that most of those licenses are on preinstalled machines - and then we'd need to know what the average specs of the machines with Vista being sold are.

Speaking just from viewing and answering forums here, a lot of people have Vista on very low end machines which could barely run games from a year ago, as they just barely meet Vista's requirements. Most gamers I know have been staying away from Vista due to Vista's increased DRM and lack of decent driver support from nVidia and Creative Labs. Those of us who want to play older games have Vista in a dual boot with XP. Personally I wish I could get rid of my XP partition, but.. methinks I won't be getting rid of that for quite some time.

reason 1. most people dont have high end gaming machines. i have a decent cpu. (x800 gig of ram, 320 intel celeron d chip.) and i get 15 fps in h2v. i get nearly 70 in CSS though and about 50 in wow.
reason 2. 3 year old ports that take 1000 dollar machines arent gonna sell, halo 3 beta is out now. which looks insane.
reason 3. no competitive league will pick this game up. 50 ppl max play this game at a time.
reason 4. buy an xbox 360. you will be much happier. companies see pc gamers as hardcore nerds, thus they dont care about them, only for mmo's.
reason 5. microsoft vista is the worst operating system ive ever used. i would rather put my dick in a blender than solo boot taht pos.

It is kinda cool... it's basically a small community where you know everyone. The only problem is variety. Everyone wants to play on big maps like coag, waterworks, etc. and Halo 2's weapons were not designed for long range, so maps like that suck imho. Also there are too many skirmish games going on all the time. I personally just like to run around and murder people, not take their flag... lol.

Amen! I totally agree with you. For all I care if nobody buys H2V anymore then um...I don't care. It's cool coming to this forum and finding posts from people you've already played before asking questions and junk. So yeah it is a small community of good citizens ( somewhat ) not a large industrialized stinky pit of noobs.

People aren't getting Vista so Halo 2 is not popular but there will be a XP release of Halo 2 : http://nikon.bungie.org/news.html?item=18626
So the I guess people will start playing more and it will get popular (hopefully) and for people owning Halo 2 Vista already will get the files for the XP version free as far as I know.

Wow they must be getting pretty desperate, well they should've done this in the first place but w/e. So does that mean they will lower the system requirements to play it?
