I don't think so, H2V didn't use DX10 to start with and all the system requirements were compatible with XP (i think). So I don't think there will be any.

People aren't getting Vista so Halo 2 is not popular but there will be a XP release of Halo 2 : http://nikon.bungie.org/news.html?item=18626
So the I guess people will start playing more and it will get popular (hopefully) and for people owning Halo 2 Vista already will get the files for the XP version free as far as I know.

That's a third party solution that will cost money, neither endorsed nor supported by Microsoft - it's not like "oh just download the patch".

The bigger question is: How long do you think it will exist before Microsoft and their massive legal team shuts it down for copyright infringement? I'm not a betting man but even I'd put money down that Microsoft will stop Falling Leaf Systems from releasing their compatibility software before it even becomes publicly available.

They arent desperate, HG/Bungie/MS dont care about h2.

That is a 3rd party company that is providing the compatability with XP, without MS permission I assume.

Skeptical at best, one certified letter from the MS legal team will squash it.

You don't just think then that it's just a couple of kids saying anything in order to get people to order Halo2 through THIER amazon shop thus making themselves some money and then afterwards will vanish with lots of people going "Whhhhaaaaaaa????" then..?

It is kinda cool... it's basically a small community where you know everyone. The only problem is variety. Everyone wants to play on big maps like coag, waterworks, etc. and Halo 2's weapons were not designed for long range, so maps like that suck imho. Also there are too many skirmish games going on all the time. I personally just like to run around and murder people, not take their flag... lol.

Quoted for truth in that part about the weapons of Halo 2 not designed for long range. In Halo 1, you could be on Bloodgulch with a sniper and literally shoot from one cliff end of the map to the other. I experimented with Halo 2 on Xbox (on Coagulation) and tried doing the same thing....the guy I was testing it on said that the sniper bullet disappeared a few feet in front of him. I had him try the same thing on me and lo and behold, the bullet disappeared a few feet right before it could hit me.
