I just wanted to know how many people have noticed the wasted opportunity of team communication during battles. When i first started playing halo online i stupidly thought that working within a team would be great, not only would i be gunning down the enemy but i would have the opportunity to coordinate attacks and defences within my team creating some great intense battles. Instead all i get from the headset is screaming, abuse and taunting. What a waste. This means that every game involving any type of strategy aka CTF etc just ends up being total confusion with only a few people forming a team and the occasional idiot who thinks its hilarious to attack his own team. last night i got the same guy in the prematch lobby shouting nube over and over only to find him getting slaughted in the match. I think this is the wrong attitude to have with new players as they should be encouraged and helped through the game. Its a shame we have such a great game to play on but the idiots are able to completely ruin the experience. Does anyone else feel this way?

I totally know what you mean. I've been playing live long enough to get into the rut of not trying to work with the team and try to get stuff done by myself, but things just work out so much better when there is teamwork. Just think of how the MLG people do it in those tournaments.

Check out the Postgame Carnage Report! The uncensored, NSFW Halo fan podcast!

You need to link up with people as dedicated to team play as you, and practice practice practice.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

That is the human element at work. I never go in by myself any more. I will only go in with a full party or just do customs with friends. That is the only way I can somewhat enjoy the game any more.

Kevin's post = breath of fresh air.
Take it from this guy people, he knows what he's talking about.

Second accounts are NOT cheating:

I almost completely do customs now. Whenever I play matchmaking its mostly training. The only problem I have with training is that when people have a guest and someone kills them they automatically quit. That guest must get real annoyed searching for games all night instead of actually playing, if you want to get better just stay in the game and learn from people who are better. You will never get better at this game playing against legit 20's.

hey if n e one would like then send a FR to Grimm Deception. this is my GT. if there is no communication, the chance of your team winning is slim. ive gotten to the point where i just do it all myself. in other words IM LOOKING FOR PPL WHO COMMUNICATE AND KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKIN ABOUT. i kno all of the maps but im still fresh with the two maps from the first one. i havent seen evry angle of the new maps....

I'm surprised more people have not stepped to the plate on this issue.Going back to when Halo 2 first came out the communication and coordination of attacks and what not were not as big as they were say about a year ago.Everyone was still getting used to it and when you entered games it was almost more of a conversation then anything else.I'd say between a year and a half ago to a year ago is when Halo 2 was in it's golden era.Everyone was well versed in the use of all the weapons.Every playlist was full every day and night.Finding a match took a few minutes at the most in any playlist. This is also when team communication was at it's best as well.Hundreds of different strategies.Intense games that resulted in heated battles. It was a fun and glorious time in the Halo world.I would personally rush home from work everyday and play 4-5 hours a night.

About 7-8 months ago the decline in the quality of gamer and playlists was starting to be noticed. One has to look no further than the pre game lobby. It is a bloody nightmare. It's maybe 1 out of every 10 games where you can sit in a peaceful pre game lobby. It is full of people shouting profanity...racial slurs...homophobic slurs....kids screaming or blowing into their mics and of course someone making farting or animal noises. The resetting of the playlists and ranks has made this even worse now.Halo 2 has hit rock bottom.Don't get me wrong,i still love playing this game but it's to the point now where the gaming has gone into the gutter.

Some good examples of what's happening more now than ever before and we have all been victims of these:
Kids even grown men shouting profanity....women who play Halo 2 being called numerous derogitory names.....racial comments(i'll come right out and say it,these are made by what most would consider red necks or the less educated.)people making fun of gamertags, team killing cause they didn't get the power weapon they wanted and -blam!- and moan about it until they kill you.Being told who your mother is having relations with, having 10-14 year old kids tell us they could kick our as sin real life and there parents have so much money the would sue us if we came close to them.

But my personal number one pet peeve is people who think that a microphone in a video game is a way to hide and pretend to be tough. These people drive me nuts...they are either the kind of people who get picked on in school or at work and take it out on the rest of us or they just think it's funny to do this.I have news for people like you.One of these days one of us will meet or catch up with you and you will find out what it's like to get your ass handed to you in real life. You will see that talking tough has to be backed up with actions and that it is not as simple as sitting in moms basement eating doritos trying to live out your pathetic fantasies.Mark my words, most of you will get whats coming to you...maybe not all but most.If anyone would like to challenge me on this topic or try and prove me wrong i welcome it.

Great points there Jense9, I absolutely feel the same way man. I sent you a PM and a FR.

In Halo 2 96% are the above described, but strangley enough about 60-76% of my games aren't that bad, and if I may say something about the beta, its that 90% of the people are all friendly, and we can, in fact, make strategies, its only after the game, either if we win or lose, we're good sports, saying gg and all that, occaisonaly we get someone like jense was talking about.

This is what happens when you chase off all of the legit players with cheating. You get little kids and people who only want to annoy you. Sure it's fun trying to make people quit but only for a little while. I'm on H2Vista now (which is not cross platform you nubs). It's great, I'm addicted again. No standby cheaters, no mods, no rankings, searchable custom games, better resolutions, player made custom maps it's everything Halo 2 for xbox was missing.

You have to have a somewhat decent group of guys (or girls for that matter) that know how to listen and react to call outs. There is kinda of an art to doing it.

Trust me though, when you get on a team that when you call something out that everybody looks there, nadeds, and shoots at your call out... its unreal. Theres a really strong energy and flow that gets created when you have 4 guys that can pick up an xbox controller and absolutely destroy. When your teamwork gets that good you will be about to go into matchmaking and know for a fact that your gonna win, im not talking about when your pumped and your trying to encourage your teammates that your gonna win but you still know in the back of your head that you might not win. Im talking about when you KNOW your gonna win, when you know your gonna dominate by atleast 15 kills.

You could basically call it the "halo players high"

98% of the people who play this game are garbage. If you're one of the 2% who isn't, copy & paste this into your signature.

I know what you mean. the other day while playing CTF I was running back to the beach while these two idiots were in the warthog just shooting around, I called for them to bring it over and they were just driving around trying to shoot guys while some guys running up on me. The only thing that saved it was that my friend was with us and I quickly passed the flag and started shooting the guy so he could get to the beach and score

You just have to find the right teammates. If you can, play with some friends and if you get into a MM game with people you get along with, send them a FR. Teams who communicate don't always do better than non talkers if multiple people try to lead the team. Designate the best tactician in your party to give strategies and cover your 6. It takes a long time to find people you enjoy playing with if you search for a team in MM all of the time. Send me a FR if you need a solid player who works as a team, communicates and has strategies.

Its good to hear that im not alone on this issue. I do play some custom games with people from my clan, but sometimes there just arn’t enough people online in halo, so i have to get my fix from matchmaking. I keep using the feedback system for people abusing the mic but from what ive been reading i might as well not bother. Ive also noticed that halo really is the worst game in my collection for this and its such a shame. Just waiting for gears of war to arrive now and hopefully it will be a lot better. I hope that when bungie are working on halo 3 they can solve this problem by cutting the chat between teams as well as the pre match lobby. also maybe the feedback system could be improved with threats of suspensions periods from matchmaking

I don't understand why people wouldn't do something so small as communicate considering it will give them better odds when it comes to winning. I get very angry when I go into a game knowing everyone on my team has a mic and I feel like I'm talking to brick walls the whole game. I'll ask them why they aren't talking and they just continue zoning out doing their own thing in their own little worlds. Sadly I've never found a group of 3 other people I can play matchmaking with. It's mainly my fault tho; I only have fun when I'm winning and losing totaly kills the mood. Once I start losing consecutive games when none of it is my fault I just turn off my 360 and do something else >.>

I really hate that! If i get on by myself a lot of times no one on my team talks. That's why i always try and get one of my friends to play with me in double team.

Please, for our sakes, use English.
On-topic, yes it can be annoying, but there is nothing you can do. Except not take winning seriously and just quit out of a game with people like that.
