I use M&K. No sense spending $40 on a controller for one single game, and I think it's lame that they gave controller users an advantage with auto aim.

I dunno. I had actually bought the wired X360 controller long before I had an X360 because I wanted a sturdy PC controller (admittedly, mostly for emulators, i know, tsktsk) and it functions really well as a standard PC controller on both XP and Vista.

I felt it was worth the price. Sure, there's a lot of other gamepads out there for PC, but so many of them feel so cheap or use the standardized PS1-2 dualshock layout.. but I digress, outside of consoles, I have never played a PC FPS with a controller, nor will I ever.

And I agree on auto-aim. Just got out of a Rumble Sniper match where the first place player just owned everyone and bragged about using his X360 controller the whole time in public chat. Sigh.

Sniping with controller is hard for me. Probably due to the fact the i use an ati radeon 200x. im getting an 8600 geforce so maybe i can actually do something with my controller then. for right now i switched back to m/kb. and i may switch back to controller when flying a banshee.

I couldn't agree more.

Sorry. Halo: CE Xbox LAN is the best thing ever. Best. Thing. Ever. Unfortunately, nobody has HCE LANs anymore. : ( I remember going to the local gaming center (now closed down) and having lock-ins where most of us would just LAN Halo all night. *sigh* I miss the old days. : (

Yeah, H:CE LAN days were 1337...

But anyways, I use both. I use the keyboard and mouse primarily, but if my K/D ratio is terrible, I switch to the controller to clock in some kills with the auto-aim. So much for balance right? =/

I myself just bought the controller so i use it. My graphics are bad so it is harder to use but when i get my graphics boosted up it should be better than keyboard and mouse. what are your opinions? Please type them down.

Get ready to be pwned. I have used both. Once you get used to keyboard and mouse you will never go back. Why? You turn around quicker and you can control soooo much easier

Good luck.

You might have auto-aim but you have a severe disadvantage, especially if the people you play against have played FPS's on PC before consoles really had them. Not only that but mouse sensitivity > controller deadzone. Especially if you have a mouse like this one where you can set the sensitivity in game, in windows and on the mouse.

Controllers only have the advantage in sniper and sword matches because they can be insanely off the mark and still get a headshot or lunge lock. Every other weapon? Advantage mouse.

This is just a bit off topic, but is there needed a special 360 controller or has the original one usb?? And nice mouse Captiosus, I thought of buying that one myself, instead I bought a G3 mouse, it works perfectly and also has mouse sensitivity button.

Capitosus, I'm still going to have to disagree with you. Have you tried H2V with the 360 controller yet? I consider myself at least somewhat proficient with both kb/m and controller, and I think the controller has the advantage with every single weapon. It's the auto aim.

I say that the controller is better up close on enemies because of auto aim and kb/m is better distance because of precision.

I have played with the controller but the deadzone, at least for me, seems to be very sluggish on foot. I seem to do better with KB/M.

I don't doubt auto-aim has a big advantage, I just think in some cases (emphasis on some) the advantage is overstated.

What would be interesting to see would be some kind of actual comparison between KB/M and controller by someone who is equally skilled in both, such as yourself.

I had actually wanted to get the G3, but, stupid CompUSA and Best Buy only had the more expensive MX Rev in stock. I still refuse to get the G15 keyboard though.

As for the controller - they sell a wired one they call the XBox 360 Controller for Windows. The naming is a misnomer because you can plug it straight into your X360s USB port and it works fine. Or, if all you have is wireless, they also sell an X360 wireless USB receiver for PC.

I prefer the kb/m for all first person shooters. I also think that auto aim is a little bit like cheating (I'm not calling the controller users cheaters, this is just a personal preference). I have to admit, thought, I went back and played some h2 on my 360 and I was better then the last time I played. I think the kb/m actually trained me to aim better, then I added the auto aim back in and was a better shot, specifically with the BR. I really think it comes down to what you use the most. One is not better than the other: if you practice with the controller, then you are better with the controller; same for kb/m. As previously stated, vehicle control with kb/m is horribly sluggish.

As a side note, you can plug your usb controller in, and the mic into that, and it will work for chat regardless of what you actually use to play. It's in the Live Dashboard -> personal settings -> voice. If you can see something like USB headset, set your recording device and playback device to that, and it should work (I know it works in Shadowrun at least).
