I want to know what you people think. Lately it seems like the only time I ever hear someone talking is when they decide to talk trash to someone. I myself think that talking with your team to figure out a way to beat the other team, or plan an attack, or whatever, is very important, and makes the game more fun. It also gives you a chance to make new friends to play the game with. I would also like to know why if it is so important how come nobody does it anymore? It seems like people used to talk a lot more than they do now.

If you are a commander, it can be difficult to give orders to people without mics.

  • 06.07.2007 3:25 AM PDT

In halo 2 it is paramount. It is possibly the single most beneficial thing you can do.

The worst is trying to talk to a team without mics, you feel like you're talking to a wall.

Team commuication is lost on a lot of people who play halo2 online,i can understand someone not talking because they have no mic but i there is no need for not calling out positons of the enemies or power weapon spawn / positon, i would say 9 out of 10 people dont bother with their mic, which is a sin.

For the most part people just want to shoot at a moving target ,whore a power weapon and get a win quick and move on to the next game.
Theres nothing wrong with this as long as your willing to lose 50% of your games, at a certain point everyones ability at the game levels out and only team work and communiction combined will clinch a win.
I have seen me in double team games with a partner with no mic ,we basically lost because he wouldnt communicate i got in to a custom game afterwords with my x-teammate and hes sitting chatting to his friend in the lobby!.

I asked him why he didnt have his mic on?.

his reply, "whats the point?"

Me:- "well ,if theres a guy behind me with a shot gun you can shout THERES A GUY WITH A SHOTGUN BEHIND YOU LOOK OUT"

x-teammate:- "Oh, i never thought of that"

WTF?????????????????????

The best are the ones you try to warn and they yell back, "What!?" then get blasted.

The "Origamiking" Fedora Man

I say that team communication is important, but I have done may battles with out communication, because I was alone against four other people. Man I was lucky to survive and win that battle.

One other thing that bothers me is when everyone wants to be a leader, nobody wants to follow orders, and nobody will comprimise on what they are doing because they think that they are right and everyone else is wrong, or stupid, or whatever. I have seen some people run right into the crosshairs of a sniper simply because they dont want to listen. That one really bothers me when the game is tied at 49 to 49 and they do it anyway costing you the game.

My problem, and I think probably a problem for people who haven't played a -blam!-load or haven't played with experienced players, is that when I want to communicate actual locations I have no idea what they are called or even if they have a name. The only way I have picked up common names of places is after a long time playing. Sure, I can do it by weapon spawn points but that's not good enough.

I remember the first time I played on lockout with people who knew what they were doing. "Library?! Library!? I've played this level 100 times.... where the F*** is the Library?!"

I think it might be beneficial to have something maybe here on the website giving out common names for spots on maps.

"because spartans cant wort wort wort anything"

Made me laugh so hard.

By far the most important. For example: I was on late one night, and I was playing BTB, and I'm 4 deep into some Steel Reserve (beer) and I'm just chatting away and I get a guy who wants to play together, he also brings on his son as a guest and we start playing some team training, we communicate and destroy the first team we play, and one of the guys on the opposite team has heard us communicating and asks to join up with us, so now we have 4 people communicating and we never lose another game that night. Now I'm a pretty average player, plus drunk on this particular evening and the other three guys were IMO average as well, but we made up plans of attack before and during the game and adjusted to what our opponents were doing by simply talking.
I want to win when I play, though don't get me wrong I understand this is just a video game, but when I hear some of the things that people say to each other, it saddens me.
My GT is "the dihn"(sounds like "dinn"). FR me if you are mature, non-racist, and like to work as a team. I don't belong to any clan and no obligations, just good, clean gaming.

It should be very important. But since so many players are usually in it for themselves, it doesn't matter. Some players just don't care at all. It depends on whether u r a team player or not.

I'll keep you in mind when I'm on Live again.
Maybe we can have some drinks and do some schwiggy teamwork.
Could help to confuse the enemy too.

Its nice to see that I am not the only one who thinks that the headset is under used, now if I could just figure out why more people dont use it.

Send A Friend Request to Schloxictonkey if you need a good teammate and you are good

I voted very important, but it should be somewhat important. Alot of the time the people on my team dont communicate, or they tell me to shut up. I have to play a different kind of game without communication, I have to play harder and turn around more often and stay closer to my team, so alot of the time the game is won without any communication at all.

edit... oops i almost forgot, why is nobody excited about the registration happening in 10 minutes?

Well, yeah, that would make sense.

So many good memories from that... I remember one time my friend was standing on the sea wall on Zanzibar, and it was Team Snipers of course, and I warned him, "Watch out Joey, someone is coming up behind you..." He was like, "What?" Then he turns around and gets no-scoped in the face. It was pretty funny.

Well, to answer the original question, if you want to do well in a game then team communication is very important. It's more important in some playlists than others (Team Hardcore compared to Team Snipers, Team Slayer compared to Team Skirmish), but generally speaking, the team with the best communication has a pretty big advantage over other players.

Take it from this guy people, he knows what he's talking about.

Communication is vital during games, however, inexpirenced players that dont know how to properly communicate can often be wasting their words. There are a few things to remember when youre trying to have good teamwork.

First off, know the callouts for all the MLG maps, most everyone uses these callouts even when its not an MLG gametype. Also know the callouts for the other maps. You can start a territories game to know what the spots are called.
Secondly, when youre calling someone's location out, shoot them. If its on the map and its not on your team, shoot it. Even if you cant get the kill put as many shots in them as you can because it will do two different things. First it will help keep their head down and make them have to work harder to move out. Secondly your teammate can finish up the kill and neither of you has to die.

Remember communication is vital but it only works as good as the team that actually uses it. If someone calls it out then everyone not currently in a firefight should be shooting at that target. If that target runs away and lives, find another. Just because you dont have shields dosent mean you cant help your teammates get kills. There have been hundreds of times in games ive had no shields and been at BR3 stll shooting everyone on the other team, as long as your teammates are also shooting at the same targets then youll be fine.

98% of the people who play this game are garbage. If you're one of the 2% who isn't, copy & paste this into your signature.

Very important, if you want to win

its fun when they have mics but if they don't it sucks

  • 06.08.2007 10:19 AM PDT

Yeah but even without mics they should still be able to hear you calling out enemy positions, vehicles, etc., wether they listen or not is another matter.

Yes it is. Its one of the most vital aspects of this game.

Obviously, you need skill. But pure skill without teamwork is wasted. A team with not as much skill, but great teamwork, can beat a team with more skill. Both skill and teamowrk are vital, without both, neither can be brought to its full potential.

  • 06.08.2007 10:07 PM PDT

It sounds like the majority of people think that it is somewhat important if not more to winning a game, but if that is true then why dont most people talk to their team? Most think its good to communicate but very few do. Why?
