Subject: Halo 2 Crackling audio

Just got halo 2 vista today so its my first time in the halo pc forum (except for ages ago wen halo 1 pc just came out)

anyway i find that alot of the audio seems to have a sort of crackle in them on some parts of the game usually single player but sometimes online as well.

Anyoneperiencing this problem or perhaps knows a solution?

Or is it just my (built in) sound card? Although it doesnt occur on anything else.

Thanks in advance.

Ah, look at the lonely people...

It's possble that your soundcard is having trouble. It could be something so simple as your speakers aren't plugged in the whole way, or they're blown.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

What kind of soundcard do you have?

F-f-f-f-fling yourself.

I have the same issue; sound works fine with games like shadowrun, supreme commander, and command and conquer 3, but this game crackles a lot and I don't know why or how to fix it (i could just have bad drivers but I honestly don't know what sound card I have :( )

It's the hard heart that kills...

Just got out of game where there was beaucoup crackle in the audio. I have a Creative Audigy Platinum eX, AMD 3400 64 x2, SLI 7800 GS, 2 gb RAM. Audio was perfect on Waterworks, next game was "warlock" port to H2 (can't remember the dang H2 name) and it was crackle city.

This is due to lag. Halo 2 for Windows Vista does not support Audio Hardware acceleration and all sound calculation is done through the CPU.

I just bought a Logitech 5.1 Surround sound system and i get crackling too, it's not my speakers or soundcard because it my setup dosn't crackle in any other game.

Im not sure what my soundcard is VIA AC'97 built into the motherboard, dont know if that will make any difference.

Lag you say? ah ok that sounds about right, although it does happen in sp sometimes also,

hmm its not that bad just a small nuisance really.

Thanks for the replies guys :)
