Both are good games, however, I must say that as far as the single player experience is concerned, Half-Life 2 wins in a landslide.

When it comes to gameplay, yes i would have to agree.

However, i think the overall feel and mysticism of Halo 2 is better. What i mean by that is things like the story, the experience, and the awe.

Halo 2's story was well done.

I would have to say that half life 2s single player beats halo2s pritty bad, but as for muiltiplayer being ex cal-m in counter strike 1.6 i have to say that the new counter strike source...well lets just say im not that impressed and halo 2 mp beats 1.6 and cs source by far.

Well, I'd say it's not quite fair to compare them in this sense. Half-Life spent more time in development and was aiming higher in the first place (revolutionizing single player) whereas Halo 2 was apparently meant to focus on multiplayer, since single is so weak. Plus, Valve doesn't have Microsoft looking over their shoulders, nor are they limited by 5-year-old hardware.

Half-life 2 doesn't even have multiplayer. Unless you count counter strike, but counter strike isn't half-life so I don't.
