I got this idea from someone in the future of Underground thread, but I thought Id make a basic list of things of what NOT to do when the game ships.
1.do not tell the storyline of the game, until everyone has beaten it.
2.do not tell cheats for this game (if any)
3.do not brag about xboxlive. almost everyone doesnt want to hear it.
But somethings you should talk about are:
1.if you are stuck on a level ask
2.if you notice something interesting tell.

Thats what im not going to do when halo 2 comes out!

I imagine we'll ask that people use spoiler tags...

However, if the number of moved threads in this forum are an indicator, people don't always read the posts at the top of the page. I suggest treading with extreme caution come november, particularly in New Mombasa.

Spoiler tags are big ones. just put in the title *Warning: Spoiler* if you're going to reveal something.

I'm going to become a mute when Halo2 comes out. I did it with the first Halo and never told a single friend about the flood. It totally caught them off guard and made them feel like it was an experience. Thats something I don't want to ruin for others and don't want ruined for me.

Its sort of a secret Halo code not to tell ppl about the game. I didn't notice this all that much until I started going to forums after the game came out and saw how few ppl talked about the story. It wasn't something I started doing because I saw others, but because for some reason knew that it wasn't right.

Suprise is one of the best thing bungie has for Halo and Halo 2. No one wants to ruin a secret because they cant hold it in. I wont tell anyone even if they beg me. Let them figure it out and have the thrill of finding out

I won't be able to get the game 'till much after release, so I'm going to be avoiding Halo-related and even game-related sites for a while after release. I wanna boot the game up for the first time with no clue what to expect beyond wonder and awe.

Its kind of funny how different Halo and Bungie fans are when it comes to a game. We want the details, but we don't. Its a funny mix, but the true fans don't really want to know too much.

Part of Halos greatness for me, was running into the flood, and actually being scared. (not really) but for halo 2, I will probably not go to b.net for a while. halo 2 should be just as fun as halo was. even if it is ruined for me, i wont ruin it for others.

Man, I wish I had more true Halo fan friends. Most of my friends that "play" usually play co-op with either me or my best friend because they know we'll watch their backs. Also, they fight for who's gonna be on our team for multiplayer because they know we'll win. But, overall, they don't care about the story. Disgusting if you ask me. Example of their ignorance.

Ex. Buzz Saw (best friend's Callsign) and I were playing the library level. Running around, killing people. . .my roommate walks in (not best friend). "Those guys look ugly!", says my roommate referring to the flood. "Kind of like your mom," I reply. But we keep playing and soon after, my roommate DEMANDS to know who, what, why, when, and how in regards to the flood. My best friend and I punched him, threw him out in the hall, and locked the door. Then, we were able to finish the level in peace. And let the flood rest in pieces.

Lsit of thing not to do when halo 2 comes out:

1 Get in a fight with your parents,

2 Light your house on fire.

3 Go to the forums expecting to not see spoilers.

4 Drop the game on the curb and brake it.

5 In your rush to the store leave with out pants.

I sort of had the Flood ruined for me. I remember it was late at night and I had school the next day so I just completed Assault On The Control Room and quit after the video loaded for the next level. When I went to continue the next day, I read the description of the level : "To encounter the only enemy the Covenant fear." So, I was really jumpy through the entire level. When walking through the swamp, I kept checking EVERYWHERE to make sure I didn't get ambushed from behind. Even when I found the Flood, I thought it was only the Infection Forms. When I saw the Combat Form leap high into the air at me, after the Flood break down the door you entered through, I nearly crapped my pants. It was even worse when I killed one and saw it get back up. Maaan. Good times.

i don't expect i'll be coming to the boards very much come Nove 9th. and i won't be reading any reviews. i'm taking work off, unplugging the phone and locking my loved ones in the cellar. (note to self: find a cellar.)

but after i beat it a couple of times, it might be fun to be part of the first wave of people sharing all the secret little things we've figured out.

it would totally suck to be responsible for accidentally ruining the game for someone who hadn't finished it yet. i remember the thrill of running into the flood for the first time and being totally freaked out even by the first wave of infection forms.

my appreciation for the flood has waned with use and time, but i must say, the moment they first appear is one of the single most incredible experiences in the history of gaming.

p.s. -- what's more annoying than having the topic moved in the middle of posting? the fine divisions of these new boards are a drag.

I'm gonna be beating the game before I go on the internet at all.

The only person I'm even going to be talking to is my girlfriend that doesn't play video games.

Encountering the flood for the first time was kind of moot for me because the first time I played through the whole game, I did it on Co-op with my best friend, and the sound was screwed up, so we had NO sound.

I absolutely despise those who are ignorant of the masterpiece that is the Halo story. My friend and i were talking the other day...Me: "So, have you beaten Halo on legendary yet?" he says: "well, im up to the second level where you are in the purple ship on heroic" i say: "you mean keyes?" him:"ya thats the one. you ever wonder why they call it keyes?" it is then that i wonder if this guy plays halo with the mute on. i however, try to ignore his ignorance. me:"ya, that level is pretty hard." him: theres those ugly beige things with green blood everywhere." me: "you mean FLOOD?" him:"flood? i dunno theyre just things you kill just like those blue things, those little orange things, and those thingies with shields." I am now about to cry. This guy is actually a half-decent halo player, but he doesnt know anything about the story. I try to end the conversation. me:"so, have you been to Bungie.Net recently?" him:"Whats a bungie?"
I talked to a couple more friends that have halo, and i think i have found the source of ignorance: they think halo is just another FPS with no story, so they SKIP THE CUTSCENES the first time they play it.

I dont really play the courses with the flood in them, but nevertheless, they are the levels that make up halo's great storyline. i just dont want to know whats in store for halo 2. Imean until I play it.
