If you look at Best Buy and some other stores, they have two different types of Xbox 360 controllers, one for Xbox 360 and one that seems specifically designed for Windows. Does it matter which one I get if I want to hook it up to my PC and play Halo 2 Vista on it? Thanks.

They're the same controller. Relax.

Normally, this is the part where I tell you that the mouse and keyboard is superior to the gamepad, which it is, but from what I've heard, Halo 2 is quite playable with the controller and its game-crippling auto-aim.

IIRC Microsoft, wanting their controller to be the main PC controller developers design their games to use, released the controller before the launch of the 360.

Which I hope it has succeeded, considering that the Xbox 360 controller is actually a damn fine piece of hardware.

I agree. The 360 controller and the Xbox S controller are the two best controllers I've ever used.

Frog Blast the Vent Core!

The original Xbox controller scared me away from it as a kid, that thing was a mammoth.

Aahhh, good old controller cramps, but yeah, the 360 controller is great for h2v, exactly like h2x, all plug and play, no setup required at all except for installing the reciever for vista.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

I never considered picking up an Xbox merely because of the Duke controller.

Today, I consider the Xbox 360 controller to be the best gamepad ever made--much superior to the Duke or the S controllers.

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity

The one for the 360 most likely is wireless. To use it in your computer you will need the receiver dongle ($20) that connects to the PC through the USB port. Make sure you get rechargeable batteries is you decide to go the wireless route (may I suggest the Quick charge kit?)

The controller labeled for Windows Vista is the exact same thing, except it is wired, that is it has a long USB cable attached to it and of course does not need batteries.

Basically, it's no different from the wired version of the Xbox 360 controller that would, let's say, come with a Core pack.

Yeah, the 360's is a lot better then the originals, I used the PS3's the other day, and man my hands got really cramped and hurt a whole lot. Not good if you are going to use it for 6 hours straight.

Or, as I affectionately called it, "The Club".

We didn't dare get angry and throw THAT controller because it seemed more likely that you'd kill someone or a household pet instead of damaging the controller.

Imagine a new version of a 360 controller that resembled a Duke - that'd be one hell of a Guide Button, and impossible to reach the shoulder buttons effectively.

Yeah, it does. My freind still uses those huge bulky controllers from when the xbox first came out. I hate those things. I end up meleeing when I'm trying to change weapons.
