It's so annoying, It's like only me and 3 other people actually own and use a mic in game.

It's probably because Silver Live subscribers can't use mics in the game.

Maybe people don't want to talk.

  • 06.09.2007 12:13 PM PDT

Slaying noobs since 2007.

No, don't talk, it's so peaceful and serene without all the 8-year old kids on, I swear you won't get to anything closer to paradise than this. It's so awesome, I played a litle on a friends computer who bothered to get H2V (and has broadband internet :( ), and it was awesome without all the cursing and yelling, and mating calls !?!.

ex·alt·ed
1. Elevated in rank, character, or status.
2. Lofty; sublime; noble
3. Exaggerated; inflated

When I DO use a controller, I try using a head set with the controller, They automatic settings cut out nearly ALL ambient sounds, which causes a dead area around the MIC.
Therefor I HAVE to wear the headset's MIC REAL close to my face.

You guys shouldn't type "mic" as the abbreviation, last time I checked, that's a racial slur (albeit with a missing letter). The proper abbreviation should be "mike."

What?

Mikerophone?

That's rich. Halo players are loud and obnoxious, and now with H2V I have to hear them even if I don't have a microphone plugged in. Why would I want to talk to that?

Because not that many obnoxious kids have gaming PC's.

I only use a mic (and I'm irish) with my friends. Sorry, but there are way too many immature 13 year olds playing; without a mute/ignore feature, there is no way in hell I would use a mic and listen to their whining and -blam!-ing.

Just take an entry for "mic" on UrbanDictionary.com:

Posted bylittle geek
mic-
Microphone, often used in online games such as Counter-Strike. There are usually three types of people who use it:
1) The 20-year-old guy who makes good use of it by communicating with his team
2) The teenage moron who likes to scream at people on his team, usually resulting in garbled screeching
3) The 14-year-old who barks orders at his teammates when he's losing and shouts "Yipee" when he's winning, only to sound ridiculous either way.
I was on a server last night where everyone used a mic. I went to sleep with bleeding ears

Cheers.

F-f-f-f-fling yourself.

I've never had any enjoyment from hearing the jerks on Xbox live talking to me. The only reason I'd want to talk is with friends, so I just start up a skype conversation before loading up my game of choice.

I, for one, never WANT to hear others talk on live. it's just annoying

Sadly, QFT.

I enabled my mike and voice chat today and the first game i got into was n----r this and "suck my c---" that. It was two guys who, during the entire match, just sat there calling everyone else racial slurs and sounding like they had coprolalia and tourette's syndrome. I ended up giving both of them negative feedback, and, for the first time of my Live! subscriptions, actually reported them.

Then muted the voice function.
I'd LOVE to communicate with my pick up group team during team matches. No one else seems to care.

Well, it's Urban Dictionary. It's not like the entries here are definitions of actual words. "Mic" is a common abbreviation, so is used frequently enough that someone would type a definition on it. But whatever.

The abbreviation of microphone can be either 'mic' or 'mike'.

But yes the only people that seem to have them like to sit there playing distorted music down them for everyone else to "enjoy" or just end up shouting lots of swear words.

- Note, that's split up so that it's allowed :)

Seriously, I have a mic too, though, but rarely use it. By the way, I have Silver and I can use my mic, I think.

  • 06.10.2007 10:11 AM PDT

YOu should be able to use your mic with silver account according to Games For Windows.
