Though AGP boards are super cheap, it would be better for future upgrades to get a PCI-E board. It is possible to find a PCI-E board with a special "AGP Express" (also called AGR) slot. It's basically a slower PCI slot that supports AGP cards. Remember that there are plenty of cheap PCI-E cards.
Yeah I know but my computer's ancient. And I could only find a cheap AGP board that would support a Socect 478 and DDR 333 Memory. That and I have very little income and I only need it for 3 more years before I buy the best of the best.
Anyway, nothing wrong with old tech. But you shouldn't really buy a new board for AGP. Chances are the board you currently have supports it already. Just upgrade the CPU, RAM, and Graphics Card. You may go slightly slower, but you are still set for a few more years. In fact, Sapphire is working on making the new ATI DX 10 cards in AGP.
