The multiplayer in Halo CE is based mostly on the pistol which is better in arena type maps, like most of the maps are shaped. Halo 2 and 3, the maps are based more for team based games, and have many more weapons and require more strategy than outright skill. Halo 3 could NEVER have the Halo CE pistol because it would be amazing, and if you all started out with the pistol, it would become a game where everyone used the pistol, and ignored the other weapons and characteristics of the game. And the Halo 3 maps aren't shaped like the Halo CE maps (arena), and neither are the Halo 2 maps. In Halo CE if it had Xbox Live capabilities, it would be completely based in skill, and would revolve around the pistol, and your us of grenades and occasionally melee. Basically what I'm trying to say is that Halo CE is a COMPLETELY different game then Halo 2 and 3, which is not a BAD thing. Halo CE is a true run and gun while Halo 2 and 3 are more strategy and team. If only Halo CE had XBL capabilities or they updated it for the Xbox 360 with Live. That is all.

Sigh...you already created the same thread in the Beta Forum (here.). Don't cross-post. Not a good idea.

Well then you obviously don't know the definition of "fact". Fact is something that has been proven and can't be proven wrong. For example it is a known fact that Halo 2 came out in 2004. That is a fact. What you just stated is not.

Im sorry man, I gotta disagree with you on just one point,

Halo CE is not a run and gun game, halo 3 and 2 are and lemme explain it to you.

Halo CE:
Halo CE has fall damage, grenades take more time to explode, has barely any auotaim (A++++++), NO MELEE HITBOXES AND LUNGES, and hardly any swipe sniping

Halo 2:
Melee lunge is ridiculous, magnetism of hitboxes is absolutely retarded, swords are the cheapest weapons, grenades blow up way too fast, no FALL DAMAGE, no health so every time you regenerate shield you go back to 100% health

no let me tell you why Halo CE is such a tactical game,
scenario 1player movement and evacuation:
lets say you are getting tagged from the back right, you turn around and shoot a grenade, it hits and you start tagging him but it seems that he's beating you and you decide to leave like a pussi, right, well your evacuation methods are very limited because if you try to evade by jumping from super high distances like you can in halo 1 you end up killing yourself or you can tap crouch as soon as you land to diminish your health.
health: now that you have jumped and you have survived your first priority is to hide to wait until your shield recharges and look for a health pack or an oveshield before the you get into combat or you will die. this makes the player think about what he is going to do next and what his top priorities are at the moment if not killing the other person.

lets look at this same scenario in halo 2
your getting tagged from behind blah blah blah you throw a grenade it hits and you whip out a BR and autoaim to the head and bam, you won. thats one option. option 2, your getting tagged and you try killing him but you end up running like skill less noob, you jump from a super high distance and no scratches on your back (so -blam!-) and decide to hide in a little corner, whip out a BR, reload, and wait until you get 100% health back since health is not a concern in this game, and you wait until he passes threw the run where you are crouching like a -blam!- and then you can: hit him on the back if he walks passed you, you can put a plasma grenade right before he walks in because they blow up so quick, or you can be a feg and BXR the person and there dead.....NO TACTICS AT ALL MAN.

I like halo that is kinda like gears in the sense where you have to take cover because you don't have infinite life like you do in halo 2.

there are a lot of scenarios that we can compare the two games with but that will end up being like reading a 100 page paper for chemistry class.

so thats my opinion

thanx for reading

Um, yeah, Halo most indeed is a run-and-gun game. It's a prime example, no less.

Don't listen to this guy. He's an idiot.

There are a few differences between Halo 1 and Halo 2/3. In Halo 1, weapons the weapons are harder to use except the rocket. In Halo 3 it's a little harder to get headshots than in Halo 2, but still way to easy. In the very first game I ever played I was getting consistent headshots with carbine, the game shouldn't be that easy.

The melee in Halo 2/3 is far to easy. In halo 1 you had to work for a melee kill, in Halo 2/3 it's pretty much an instant hit if the person is on your screen, this makes melee battles really stupid and it's often whoever has a lower ping wins.

Grenades are to weak in Halo 3. I've played KOTH games in Halo 3 where there hasn't been a single grenade kill on either team. That just shouldn't happen. Grenades need to be an important part of your equipment again.

The weapons take to long to kill. The BR and Carbine have no chance at taking out snipers at mid-long range because by the time you get off 4 bursts or 7 shots, the sniper will have been able to find cover.

Overall, Halo 2 and Halo 3 are way to easy to play and most battles come down to whoever has a better set up going into the battle.

For example: In Halo 3/2 if I have a BR and someone has a sniper at any reasonable distance they will probably get the kill or at least be able to escape without dieing, no matter what I do. You can't really out strafe a sniper because you don't have to lead. The BR is good for knocking out zoom, but trying to get a kill at a decent range with burst fire is pretty much impossible.

In Halo 1, I would be able to use strafing to make him miss some of his shots (this works in Halo 1 because you have to lead with sniper). While strafing, I would be able to use the pistol to be pretty effective from a decent range and be able to kill him because the Pistol actually kills fast. You would still have to work for the kill, the pistol is not easy to use, and it's not easy to out strafe a good sniper.

Halo CE > Halo 3 > Halo 2

Fix the Halo 3 BR spread, plz.

Halo CE wasn't a pistols only game. People used like all the weapons, except the Plasma Pistol and Needler. Sniper and Rockets dominate maps and shotguns aren't to bad either.

You're right. I think that they should just REDUCE the melee hitboxes in Halo 3, but not get rid of them, because in Halo CE, it was nearly impossible to get a melee kill. The three golden things of Halo are grenade, weapon, and melee, so the melee-ing has to be there and it has to be easier than it was in Halo CE. And you're also right about how in Halo 3, with the Brute Spike Grenade, if you didn't stick the guy in open quarters like in a field (Valhalla), it blows up and does almost no harm. While in close quarters (Snowbound cave) it was deadly, which is good. It should just be more consistent outdoors as well.

halo 3 needs some arena maps. badly.

halo 2 had about 23 maps. most of them were pure trash. cmon.
