Ok So My computer has a real hard time with Halo 2 Vista Online in big maps.

I meet every requirement except for Video. How Much better is an ati x700 agp version than a Ati Radeon 9600 with 256 mb of vid memory.

Also What would you say a better agp graphics card for halo 2 That wont break my piggy bank.

I would like to be able to run Medium Detail, AA off it is has to be, and 1024x768 res.

Steam: RageRunner32 | StarCraft II: RageRunner | Lets play Pc sometime :)

Why not just go with the Radeon X1950 AGP? It's the best gaming card for AGP at the moment. (and Pci-e as well, exclude Nvidia 8800) It should (I don't have H2V but I see the requirements are waaay off) be able to run the game at max, and definately handle what you wish to have in your post.

I'm not sure what the clock speeds, memory interface, or pixelpipelines are of X700. But if it's a significant difference in pipelines/core clock of what you have now and has 256 interface or more you should be set. Best of luck : )

Sometimes ATI drivers add an override menu for Anti-aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, Mipmaps and other Direct x stuff. When i checked my settings they where all up high. Try clicking on the ATI icon in your task bar then look through the menus to find the settings and switch them to applicaion mannaged that way halo will set the AA and stuff not the ATI drivers.

Alright I'll take a look in CCC

Ok I looked in CCC Everything was set to let App Decide. And for Mipmap Detail Level I moved that all the way to performance. Now I shall see how it runs :D

Quite well. I can run halo 2 pc on a 7600GS (Similar Card) at 1280x720 with 2xAA medium at about 40-50 fps.

Also judging you dont know that much about graphics cards (not meaning to be offensive in anyway :) because i dont know ) but make sure you get a new power supply. That is one of the biggest mistakes people make

Try nvidia cards they have good fps when using vista. If you dont want Nvidia go for the high end ATI stuff.

True nvidia have better drivers for vista atm. Considering your going for an AGP card, id get a 7600GT. Its a better proformer than x1650 pro and its goes at same price. Otherwise you could go for 1650 pro/7600gs for pretty much identical performance

Thanks for looking out but I know quite alot :)

I've checked the minimum specs for those cards. They recomend a 350 watt power supply. Which is what I have. :)

Well If my bid fails on ebay then I'll give Nvidia a shot. I love nvidia much more than ati myself its just that I've heard and read in magizines that Nvidia's drivers for vista are total crap atm.

Incorrect, Nvidia does not have better drivers for Vista.

No problem. Also when they recomend power supplys its best to go one level higher they base that on the most common computer setups. If you have a dual core cpu you might want a 500w - 600w ps.

Well Here's a reference... I have a AMD4800+ (90nm, socket 939), a x1900 and tow hard drives. I don't get bottlenecked by my PSU. Judging by him not wanting to get a high end card I think a 400-450 watt SHOULD do it especially on an AGP card.
Never do the minimum on these man.... My Friend thought his 350 watt could handle a single core proc and x1300... It could only barely
