FFA takes NO skill what-so-ever. All you have to do is chuck grenades at people who are already fighting and kill them both. What aspect of that makes you a quality Halo 2 player? Team maches actually take skill and stratagy, while FFA is just running around throwing grenades. Anyone else think this?

Never argue with idiots. They force you down to their level, then win because of experience.

Shadowrun=Halo 1>Halo 3>Halo 2>Gears of War>Nothing.

Don't be a scrub. Play to win.

If FFA's take no skill, why do some people win them frequently and others don't? Its not random, there is strategy. Its just that team games require a lot more.

Thats a REALLY stupid thing to say, because that logic could be applied to EVERYONE. So JROCK420, why don't you win it then? Using you logic, everyone should be able too, so why not you?

FFA takes some skill, but admittedly has more luck than skirmish, but anyway, it'll be fun, and the 3 people who walk away
with XBOX Elite's certainly wont think its stupid.

By the way, I'm taking first place, but 2nd and 3rd are wide open.

Thanks for sharing your oppinion without being an asswipe ShadowCow. I just don't think a FFA tournament is the real way to find the best Halo player. It's all about luck...where you respawn, who's got the weapons...it's just dumb. There are too many variables to make it a game of skill.

Also, -blam!-s who hog the weapons and use the N00b combo need to be kicked out. It's bull-blam!- that people who are of a lower level than most people can continue to win because of the n00b combo.

IDK, there is too much luck in the fact that you can have a jump on someone and they get an assist from behind. Also, I average around 20-30 assists in FFA, which is terrible considering the fact that most times, i get 10-20 kills

A FFA can't judge a player verse another player considering in a 3 person FFA, one guy could camp and pick kills of another guy.

  • 06.11.2007 11:47 AM PDT

I still think it'll be cool, but i kind of see your point. Here's an idea for an FFA tournament, somehow incorporate Kill/Death Ratio,

like maybe the person with the best K/D ratio who has at least 15 kills is the winner. That will require people to use some strategy to stay alive rather than just use the charge in / throw grenades tactic, and require at least 15 kills so they don't just hide in a corner the whole time.

Or here's another wild twist for a unique slayer game - no more than 3 kills per weapon. No hiding and sniping the whole time, 3 kills then find another weapon.

I think it's really ridiculous. However,. it could be better if they didn't shove BR start matches down our throats thanks to the whining from MLG players.

Since their kill tracking system only goes by who got the last hit, and not who did the most damage, all someone has to do is spawn with people in the middle of a fight halfway across the map and they can take out both of them thanks to their shields being down enough.

What, me getting killed, and spawning behind the sword guy when his shields are low....killing him then going on a rampage with the sword to win the game....How is that not skill?

I know what you mean, but if you do a team thing for the prizes, then some teammates might not be able to show up. If its not BR start, then its even harder to kill someone when they have a BR vs. you SMG.

The new maps don't have PP so there will be no noob combo...(for those of you that like the combo...the people at Bungie that made the matchmaking part called you "Jacka$$es" for the way you abuse it)

SMG FFA is terrible.

I had this game, my first of the challenge, to back that up. <3 assists.

It's just rediculus..I'm not doing half bad..but c'mon here, this is pointless. Constant cheaters/glichers/stand-byers, stupid starting weapons, the same 3 maps OVER AND OVER AND OVER again..how hard is it to have a tournament that DOESN"T suck?

If it's br start the better person wins, smg start is terrible 'cause its all about finding br's and then they can just whore the br and you cant shoot back

That's Bungie's fault. Not the players.

If they gave the players a better starting weapon, turned down the PP's tracking (like they did masterfully in H3), and lowered the auto-aim in general (note: lower, not get rid of completely) then you wouldn't have to worry about rushing to the power weapons, and it would be about who the better player is.

But when they spawn me with an SMG, a weapon that can hardly be considered a viable choice, of course I'm going to pick up all the power weapons I can, and abuse them as much as possible, not because I need to, but because there's no point not to. I not going to think to myself "Nah I better not use the noob combo because that would be unfair to that guy who spawned with a lil SMG, I better just use my SMG too". I'm sorry but that would be ignorant as hell.

And it sounds like you're just a terrible, terrible player CaseyCor who can't win without his far superior teammates to back him up. FFA's take plenty of skill. Don't believe me? Try playing against any of the Top 64 MLG FFA players. You'll lose every time, regardless of "luck" and throwing grenades.

I'll bet money on it.

Stop complaining. Obviously, if you're dying so much that you feel the need to complain, you aren't very good. Just get better. FFA does take skill. If it doesn't, then why aren't you winning 2,000 dollars in MLG tournaments? Or are you going to call that stupid too and say everyone there sucks also?

What's the point in starting a topic on this subject. If you don't like it, don't play it. Simple as that.

Teamwork means staying out of my way.

I think that there is something amiss here. I was a level 37 in rumble pit. According to H20 I have a 60% win on rumble pit, average 21 kills per game and 9 deaths per game.

Today, I have played 35 games, I have won 1. THats a 2% win. I have 15 kills per game and 14.5 deaths per game. This is an anamoly. I've played FFA in MLG tournaments so there's got to be something wrong.

FFA itself does take skill and strategy, not as much as team games do but still strategy. Honestly though, the playlist for the H2 Challenge is -blam!- the most ridiculous thing ever. I mean cmon i played slayer br on terminal....and snipers on colosus...for both of those and many gametypes, the most skilled player never really wins. If you ask me, in H2 Challenge its seems like 1st place is host, 2nd is whoever whores the rockets, sword, shotgun, 3rd is the guy that hides in a corner stealing peoples kills and 4th is the person who truly has the most skill.
