im trying really hard to find where i can buy a communicator module (the thing that plugs into youre controller and the headset plugs into, its got the on/off button and volume control)

ive found many many awsome headsets that are much better then the xbox live ones but they all dont come with modules, just the headset......

so: does anyone know where i can buy just the module? or if someone can sell me theirs?

(ps, ive tried ebay, so dont say that, unless you can link me to the item if you can find it)

PLEASE HELP ME

ya, i find it kind of stupid that they would sell the Halo 2 headset if it doesnt come with a module, i bet its about 10:1 ratio of people that dont have any headset that want it compared to the number of people that have headsets and want to replace just the headset and not the module

ive got a friend who was about to sell his headset to the the Halo 2 one, but if it doesnt come with a module, then its a useless $50

also i wish they would sell a pack of like 5 or 10 of those plugs that connect the controller cord to the Xbox

I walked into my local EB games, and asked about the halo 2 headset. I told them I am using a live trial, so I don't have a communicator. I asked if the halo 2 headset comes with everything I need to get talking over live, and they said yes.

I buy the headset and, being the impatient kinda of guy I am, I open the package while I am waiting for the bus. I look at the headset: "Damm, it's soo cool!" I look at the different styles of ear buds you can use with it. I think: "It's nice of them to give you all the choices - this product rocks". I follow the cable down to the plug and...What! A stereo-mini plug?? How the hell is that meant to plug into my controller! I've been duped!!!!

I run back to the store - the guy I spoke to isn't there. I find another salesman and say: "what good is this to me, I can't plug this into a controller!". He says: "yes, you need the comunicator kit!"

"What!?!?!?" I ask.
"This!" He points to a full xbox live head set. Inside is a little puck thing that goes inside the controller, and has a stereo mini plug for the headset.
"So you are telling me I need one of those things if I want my halo 2 headset to be of any use"?
He nods.
"But then I have 2 headsets, only one of which I can use at any given time!!" I exclaim.
He looks at me funny: "That's right, didn't you get one when you got your live kit?"

*sigh* I slowly and painfully explain that I am using a "trial" live account that came with halo 2. He says: "Well, if you helped test xbox live, surely microsoft gave you a headset???" He looked confused.
"No" I said, "It''s like try before you buy".
"Oh - maybe you should ring microsoft and see if the puck-connector is sold as a single product. We certainly don't sell them". He said as he handed me a piece of paper containing a MS support phone number.

I ring the number, and after a lot of waiting, get to a support person. I tell him what happened. I explain that I need a puck, and I ask if I can buy one without buying the full communicator kit. I explain that I have a headset, and don't want to pay for another if I only need one part.

He asks: "What is your gamertag?"
I pause... did he get anything of what I just said? I say: "you don't need to worry about that, I just need to know if I can by a puck for my headset."
He says: "Didn't you get one with your live account?".
"No, I got a 2 month trial account with halo 2".
"Oh. So you don't have a xbox comunicator then?"
"No, I have a headset, and want to buy a puck." I am getting a bit frustrated by now.
"Hmm, let me see..... Damm.... Um, hang on..." I wait for a while. "Uhhh, you there? My system seems to have crashed. I'll just put you on hold for a sec..."
"OK", I said. I listen to music for a while. He comes back on: "Right! lets see. Damm!! It's crashed again!!".
More music.
"Are you there?" he asks. "Yep", I say.
"It seems that the only way to get a puck, is to by the comunicator set, or an xbox live pack."
"Thanks", I say, and put the phone down.

Now I have a Halo 2 headset, and can do bugger-all with it :(
I'm gonna take it back to EB, and see if they will swap it for the standard comunicator pack.

Oh I feel your pain. Plantronics should make it clear (they do have some small print on the package) that this is a headset UPGRADE to the MS headset and not an alternative to it.

Yes - and the shop assistants should know the difference.

I can't stand the standard set, the plastic presses too hard into my bald head and leaves very odd and hard to explain marks.
LOL - that's not a good look :)

I traded in 5 games at my local game store and that gave me 35 bucks in store credit. So I bought the Xbox Live headset that came with the communicator with that and then I purchased the Halo 2 headset. I gave the standard one to my friend because his broke.
