Hey its that time for me to upgrade my computer. I was thinking that instead of buying it out of the store I would build one. So If you guys could help list the things I need and the best I can get but keep it in the price range of $1000-$1800 for the whole thing. Thanks

Standbying, bridging, and modding are all on the increase. Bridging is just so out of control it's to the point where my party will only get host about 1 in every 10 games (until the Americans get home from school). Then, it's about 1 in every 25 games. I don't expect to get host more than any American (due to geography), but at least we used to get it about 1 in every 5 games!

It needs sorting out soon before it gets even worse!

this shouldn't be here, but w/e...

here (it's a "parts list" of a pc i made (not built... yet):

https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWish Detail.asp?WishListNumber=6694648&WishListTitle=extreme+o verclocker

i chose the e6420, because it's like the e6400 (a good overclocker (better than the e6300/6320 (those are bottom of the barrel, "worst binned" chips, anyway). it has 2x the cache (4mb) as the e6400 (or e6300, for that matter), and it can probably hit 3ghz+ on STOCK cooling (a little arctic silver couldn't hurt, though) with some fsb alterations ALONE (no vcore alterations needed)!

also, knock off that extremely overpriced (but worth it, imho) gfx card, and you're down to <$1000!

hell, i'm still running an athlon xp 3200+ system with 1gb ddr400 sdram, 2x 200gb (non raid) pata drives (ata100), and a radeon x1950 gt (agp)! it runs fine. i get >5000 3dmark05 points and ~3000 3dmark06 points! not too shabby for a system with onboard sound/lan and a two year old installation of windows xp home!! :D

edit: well, i can't seem to get the link working. i guess bungie.net's crappy forums don't like secure http links... so, here: https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetai l.asp?WishListNumber=6694648&WishListTitle=extreme+overcl ocker

just copy/paste that into your address bar (you'll have to delete the space(s) that's added). :\
