Does anyone else seem to find that Legendary is kind of impossible to beat because i have spent a lot of time just trying to pass the first level, and I am getting no where. Why make it so hard to beat. I even did co-op and no dice! Please leave some feedback.

When playing Legendary it is important to have a friend who is a good player. My friend and I were able to make it all the way from Outskirts to Delta Halo on Legendary. If your biggest problem is the jackal snipers, try practicing with ranged weapons such as the battle rifle or sniper weapons so that you are prepared to deal with them. Also, whenever you enter a new area, always be cautious and look for snipers before moving into the open.

these are some pretty good ideas for legendary but ive only gotten to the 3rd lvl so i can only guess about flood and brutes

1) hunters
2) elites
3) brutes
4) jackels
5) drones
6) weapons
7) flood
8) general tactics

(Hunters)1 - Get a shotgun, beam rifle, or sniper rifle. Wait for the Hunter to charge, and sidestep at the last second. Turn around, and you should have a clear shot at the Hunter's weak spot.

(Elites)2 - Needlers still are very effective against Elites. Unlike the other Covenant species, you have to attack Elites relentlessly. They have energy shields just like you.

(Brutes)3 - These guys are tough. In my opinion, short ranged weapons are most effective against these aliens. Remember, once a Brute's squad has been taken out, it will go crazy-like and charge you.

(jackles)4 - You can use the same tactics you used for Jackals in the first Halo if they are carrying shields. Note that they are faster and more aware now, though. If they are carrying a beam rifle, I recommend getting up close. They'll drop their rifle and flee.

(drones)5 - On lower difficulties, these guys are just annoying. On legendary, however, they can take you out pretty quickly. My suggestion is to avoid being surrounded. Once they have circled you, it's hard to kill them all and survive. Also note that plasma is generally too slow to hit an airborne Drone.

(weapons)6 - There's not much to say about weapons, except Human weapons are better at dealing with fleshly targets, while plasma is better with dealing with shields. Obviously, weapons such as the sniper rifle are to be used at long ranges, and swords at short distances. Grenades have been toned down. You can no longer throw grenades very far, and the blast radius seems to cover a shorter distance.

(flood)7 - Flood...man, these guys will get on your nerves. Literally. As the name implies, these guys will swarm you and rip you apart with their tentacle things. Unlike Halo: CE, they can now pilot vehicles and be revived by infection forms. so i recommend the shotgun, lasersword, and sentianl beam against flood those are the best

(General tactics)8 - Just use your head. You no longer have to seek out health packs when you're damaged, so now you can just hold tight when your shields are down and get back into the fray in no time. Always work with allies, whether it be on Live or campaign. Also, customize your team's arsenal in single player. You'll see how effective 3 Elites with swords are when dealing with enemies.

The first level has been the hardest part of the game by far, as long as you are decent enough with the sniper to patiently snipe your way past all the snipers in Mombasa. I liked that part. The only think of that will probably be as hard as the first level was is when you fight the Heretic. I am crying just thinking about that part (which will be coming shortly).

A friend and I have gotten to the second level but meh... i never have enough time to sit there for 2-4 hours on one level, Doh! oh well ill get it done eventually. even though it does get very frustrating i love plaing legendary with a friend now, the AI is much better, and legendary can actually be a challenge now unlike halo 1 where you could sit back and respawn your friend. you've gotta use your head a lot more now, weapon selection literally is the life/death of you in halo 2

My only recommendation if you really want to end Legendary is to hide a lot and avoid direct combat 99% of the time and combat as much as is possible. Unlike Halo 1, Legendary on this game is cheap (Tomb Raider 3 cheap!).

Trust me on this one, the game's ending was bad felt bad enough when fininshed on normal, on Legendary the same ending makes you question the sanity of putting up with the abuse of an incomplete game. It does not feel rewarding to finish it as it did on Halo 1.

Well i view legendary as something of a personal challenge so im currently going it alone. The first level is hard, no question. So skip it. I started on the second level and am now on Delta Halo. I suppose ill come back and try again at some later point. Heh i could definetely beat the first level, the problem is i run out of ammo b4 i can finish up the last 2 elites. Its not even better to try it with a buddy cuz as soon as one of u die its back to the last checkpoint. it's annoying to spend 30 minutes on one checkpoint, but how annoying is it when your about to beat that checkpoint and your buddy dies? also, you want to steer clear of dualwielding in some situations. You need an arm free to use nades. If it's one or two elites, then dualwield with a plasma pistol. The charged shot takes out their shields and then use the smg to quickly rip through their flesh. Also, take your time. Better that than constantly restarting. As soon as your shields get down to half then duck back under cover. Lol it's unbelievable that marines can take 2 sniper shots to the head and still live, but you die after one hit. Against the flood...use that energy sword, or from a distance, the sentinel beam. It's there for a reason and it's effective against the flood. Whichever you use, be sure to have a plasma weapon handy, to take out the sentinels that are never far away when theres flood around. As to why the game doesn't feel rewarding...i think it's because when you beat a level on legendary, you dont get one of those legendary skull medals.
