guys, 16 players is just too much for rumble pit, I'm sorry. It just is. can we fix this? take both of the rumble pit servers down and change them to 8 players each? or could we just take one of them down and change this?

Let there be CHAOS!

Alot of servers should be taken down to 8 or 10 max, but for some reason Hired Gun loves games with 16 players or games where people have to "sit out" everytime they die.

yeah, but it lags like Hell whenever they put 16 players in a single game. Even more annoying, sometimes there's so much lag that scores don't get recorded/displayed until about half-way through the game -- if even then.

I just love that glitch, and yeah it gets laggy for me too, especially if there are 6 people in one area running at each other with dual wields spraying plasma and led everywhere. And this happens all the time on small maps with 16 players.

16 player Shotgun CTF on Beaver Creek made me cry.

Not because any lag but because it was impossible to move.
Spawn, die, spawn, die, spawn, die.

I really think rumble pit should be as you mentioned, no more than 8 to 10 tops. Not everything has to have huge teams. =/

who was the retard that voted no?

The original Rumble Pit playlist had (and still only has) 8 players per server. I remember Rumble Pit was always my favorite playlist. I played over a thousand Rumble pit games, whereas with other gametypes I only played a few hundred. and I'm telling you right now, these ridiculous maps are just plain horrid, even for 16 players...

Coagulation? I can't remember ever playing Coag once on a rumble pit game for H2X. maybe for rumble snipers. Burial grounds? once again, maybe for rumble rifles and rumble snipers, but that's it. I think they do every single map in the playlist for rumble pit except lockout and midship, which is ridiculous because those two are my favorite maps to do Rumble Pit for.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Why the hell did you even ask this question and make a poll if you weren't willing to hear what people think?

because they didn't say why not. Anyone who's a veteran of RP would know that more than 8 players is pushing it. I've played with 16 players in numerous custom FFA games and it's like a feeding frenzy, there is virtually no time to think, and too much lag for the game to record double kills, triple kills, and so on.

Prehaps your connection isn't good enough for a full match.

Wow, so 384k/sec isn't enough... what is this world coming to?

well, sorry I can't afford a $100+ per month connection like a T1 or T3...

and judging by the way you've been talking, desert fox, you really haven't played enough Halo2 xbox to fully understand the differences between H2vista and H2Xbox.

there are considerable differences.

Who are you kiding, I have played Halo 2 on XBL quite a few times, and the matchmaking sucks. The only redeeming quality of it is the big slayer games.

How many times is quite a few? Do you have your own gamertag?

LOL team games.

Team games are nothing for me I hated them for the most part. What really nagged me was how everyone was so lateral-mindedly playing team slayer. I hated team slayer! however, Big Team Battle was my 2nd favorite playlist. What I didn't like was how all these idiots would go around bashing Rumble Pit and Big Team Battle whereas the truth is if you were a level 30 in rumble pit you could probably beat as high as a level 35 in team slayer in a 1v1 game. And if you were really good at Big Team Battle, then you were Godly at team slayer (I remember my highest was a 36 in team slayer but that was a year and a half ago).

Rumble pit was fun. it taught me reflex, and to rely on myself. It teaches you the real definition of what a Spartan is. If you play it enough, it's actually like the long ritual ancient spartan boys would go through called Agoge. If you were strong enough, you would emerge as one of the thousand elite that actually surpassed tens of thousands of others in combat. Besides, 4 level 30s in Rumble Pit vs 4 level 30s in Team Slayer is a sure loss for the Team Slayer enthusiasts.

You do know all that info is attached to your sig, right?
And even though my gamertag may only have 44, I have played a lot more than that, just not on my gamertag.

Let there be CHAOS!

Matchmaking was good for organized games against people of your skill level, much better than the usual H2V game (join a chaoticly huge game, with 5 uneven teams, people joining and leaving left and right, hyper lag, etc.)

I know....

what's even worse is that recently I got a chance to play a few Rumble Pit games over XBL and I discovered that even though there were no rankngs, people generally knew what they were doing, and didn't quit left and right.

I think so.

i've seen a couple of ten player servers. Soon I'm hoping I'll get a job. If I do, I'll set up my own dedicated server for 8 players and commit it solely to rumble pit on days when I have work. but first I'm gonna have to install it....

If I were you I would wait a while before buying a server, they are a pain to keep up with and working properly (atleast when I had gotten one), you may want to wait though, and save up your cash. Just a pointer, if you want one.

I'll bet.

the thing with h2vista servers is that they're so complicated now. I just tried setting up a dedicated server about an hour ago and I had to go into command prompt to do it. it's like WTF?

I could've sworn you could make a dedicated server for Halo:CE just by running the game...

but the thing is, running a half-life server is as easy as 1 2 3.

True. But then, again, he won't be paying much, since it is a 8 player server. (I am not in any way, saying he should just go waste his money because it's half the price of the original 16 player servers, just wanted to point that out).

You can for dedicated servers... starting a server ingame, however, gives you NO options besides gametype and map.

Yes you can cap it to any number you want as long as its a dedi. I have mine capped at 10 at the moment.
