Alright, I have carried a bad habit from my Goldeneye days on the old N64, maybe it's not a bad habit but it has its down side. That habit is my thumbstick layout: Legacy. It's nice b/c it allows me to melee without giving up my ability to spin. However, aiming on the run is pretty choppy especially with a mid to long range weapon. This wasn't a problem until I got into MP and tried to break into higher ranks and really needed to tighten up my game.

I have tried using the default layout but beating somebody down becomes a trick of rapid fire thumb reflex and therefore cumbersome. Some people have suggested switching to the Boxer button layout, but than I realized what I was denying. Without the Legacy setting it just seems like an entirely different game. Not the only FPS I know and love but some pain in the ass floaty drift fest. I know a lot of people use the Default and are really good with it, but I am not sure if it is better than the Legacy, or if I'm whining about something that is really a matter of me just stepping up my game and putting in a few more hours of practice. And I don’t want to break almost a decade of practice and gameplay with a certain controller set if I am going to find out that it's just my mediocre skills and not at least partly due to a poor choice of thumbstick layout.

So, I am asking, what thumbstick layout you use and/or any other control layout variations, as well your Halo 2 rank??
Any other tips, advice, or experience would be appreciated as well.
Oh, and if you pay attention and can remember, what is your average hit percentage in H2?
