Hello,

***MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS***

People have been complaining incessently since Halo 2 was released. I myself felt the same confusion and frustration that many gamers have expressed. Yes there are jerks out there who blast Bungie and only throw out threads about how Halo 2 is garbage if you think this then this is not for you. I am here to intelligently lay out the case for a Halo 3 and explain Halo 2 from my viewpoint.

First off I agree with many that the game had far too little Earth based combat. By far this was my biggest gripe with the game. As just about everyone else I believed the "Earth will never be the same" line that they (Microsoft and Bungie) used for marketing. What I saw in the game was a bridge plot. By this I mean that it is the "Empire Strikes Back" of Halo like the that film was for Star Wars. This is not meant as a bad thing because Empire is one of my favorites. This bridge plot is between the end of First Strike and Halo and the inevitiable Halo 3. This game is here to set the stage for the Earth combat to come, this is evidenced by the final cutscene in which Truth leads the Covenant fleet to Earth and the final battle begins. There is mountains of evidence for this theory, February 9 or The secret level in the LE DVD ( which I saw with my own eyes) or XBOX 2 coming out soon, etc. Now the Feb. 9 thing is debatable I personally have not seen it because I haven't beat the game on Legendary. If there is one thing that I want people to take away from my theory about Halo 2's purpose it is this; that Halo 2 was not crap nor was it a ploy but a logical progression of the Halo story to be concluded in Halo 3.

Now moving on to Halo 3. I ask what was the title game for XBOX when it was released? Halo. What game was arguably the most anticipated XBOX game ever? Halo 2. For what games would you buy an XBOX? Halo and then Halo 2. The Halo saga has money in it and it would be a blow both to the story, if Bungie wrapped it up in too quick a manner, and Microsoft, who stands to make alot of money if Halo 2 is followed by another title. Also with the upcoming release, within a year or so, of XBOX 2 Microsoft has a chance to crush Sony and PS2 and with what you might ask? Halo 3 among other games. It only makes sense that the game that made XBOX what it is and then the sequel that garnered so much attention be followed with an appropriate ending title. That can only mean and Halo 3. Also look at some of the evidence to support this, beware this is my own opinion. First Bungie has an obsession with making a good story, what good story could be considered done if you leave it in a massive cliffhanger like Halo 2? Bungie isn't dumb and they most certainly won't leave the Halo saga without some closure. Also Bungie has a noticed obsession with symbolism, namely Biblic symbolism. I know this has been covered before but please bear with me. There are 7 halo rings, then you have the COVENANT, then there is the Ark, which could be construed as the Ark of the Covenant, then you have the Forunner ship or even the Halo rings which were used to survive the FLOOD that ironically wiped out everything in existance. And to top off my grand theory there are three Halo games. It may not be hard evidence but I think that the circumstancial evidence and the theories support this.

Please I would appreicate feedback on this topic. Am I going in the right direction? Or is this complete BS? Please don't Flame or bash just lay it out intelligently like I have endevored to do here.

Also the MP on Halo 2 is awsome! I love it so much, it is only the story that I have any issues with.

Many Thanks,
Dan

Oh. One more thing. I moved this post to New Mombossa so the moderator can close this one if it is in the wrong spot. I only wanted to fix a percieved mistake not double post and be a jerk.
