Ok, So I will need to be getting a laptop soon. I also know its very hard to get a laptop to run the latest and greatest games. Does anyone know of a few laptops to look at that could run Halo 2 decently. Medium Setting and 30fps average?

Yeah, I just bought it, it was exactly 3,345.85$ yeah...it's an ALIENWARE, it's also and SLI notebook, with 200gb RAID 0 HDD, and 2 gb of ram...with a dual core AMD 64 2.2ghz processor.

That's why it's so expensive. Alienware is a huge ripoff.

Especially since Alienware is owned by Dell =/

In regards to the original post, you can get good gaming laptop for a reasonable price. I guess the most important question to ask is how much you're prepared to spend?

Don't try to play the sympathy card. (Pssst, you may want to edit "the latest and greatest games such as Halo 2" part.)

Done. I have no probs with halo 2 unlike most people. And my computer isnt that great. The only problems I've had is the server browser not returning any games. Nothing else :D

dell xps should do it, but its going to cost you.

Any XPS? Or any models I should go with?

  • 06.14.2007 12:28 PM PDT

i just ordered my laptop. my friend has the same one and says it plays halo 2 perfectly. it costs about $1,800 but is still a powerful laptop.
Its name is the asus g1.

general rule though: the best it cost the most. i am on low budget and looked for the most for the least amount of money

any of the XPS models i believe should be able to run h2, however from talking to friends i would suggest on the upper end of dell notebooks going for the M1710 model which i think is the best one they put out, however it costs around 2300 bucks, so if you're not made of money i would suggest going for the M1210 model which cost about 1000 dollars and should be able to run h2 for you.

Noooooo. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the lowest XPS model have, by default, an integrated Intel GMA 950?

This Alienware should do what you're asking without any upgrades. Of course, I'd suggest tacking on that extra $50 for the 2.0 GHz processor and upgrading to 2 GB RAM, but if you want to run it on medium settings with 30 FPS, the default configuration should do it.
