OK, so this is the thread for my Halo 3 map, Last Resort. It wasn't in the internal beta, but it is the Halo 3 version of Zanzibar, with twice as much room.

OK, now that you know what it is, let's get down to business:


MAP FEATURES:
Everything in Zanzibar.
2 Halo 3 ATVs on the beachhead.
A secret room.
Updated Power Generator room.
Halo 3 Gadgets.
Halo 3 sounds ripped right from the beta.
Halo 3 MC.
Halo 3 Assault Rifle.
Halo 3 Icons for the weapons.
New Halo 3 armor Permutations.
Whatever else I can think of.

My new H3 HUD. It's a cross between the H3 Multiplayer and H3 Singleplayer HUD. I'll be using it for Last Resort.
It's based off of the HUD here:

I used that as a source template, and severely modified it. I need to rotate the Assault Rifle and Grenades about 1 degree.

A. Yes, if someone can make a good script for it.

A. I am going to be using something called a Permutation, which makes it so if you are red, you are the guy with the really big visor, if you're blue, then you are the Stormtrooper-looking guy, if you're green, you're the H3 Master Chief, etc.

Q. Do you have a list of what color equals what MC?
A. Not at this time.

Q. Are the vehicles going to be destructible?
A. Yes.

Q. How are you making the map?
A. I am assembling it in sections, meaning I model a building or something, then I move on to something else. When everything is modeled, I will combine them all in one model, which will be textured and then go ingame.

A. See below.

A. Yes.

If you were making this for Halo 2 Vista, i'd be more excited...All of the HCE Zanzibars were good idea's, but the size ratio was terrible making the maps themselves terrible. Btw, someone should port New Mombasa over to H2V using the H2V map maker.

I would, but the H2EK is locked up so much that making any custom weapons for the map would be impossible. Otherwise, this would be about H2V.

I do not have a time of when I should be done, as I work at my own pace, doing a lot of modeling some days, not so much other days.

First off let me thank you immencely for the H3 sound tags!!! I have searched and searched for the AR gunfire sound and you have finally made my day!

Now onto the map, it looks like a great project with sooo much potential. Can't wait to see the finished product (haven't seen that quality of a map in awile). However the polygon count on the building looks extremely high, how are you going to incorporate that into the engine?

I'm lowering the Poly count. The building actually has no back (lol) so there is only half of the building, reducing the poly count. I'm going to connect it to the sky later, so it doesn't break the sealed world rules. I'm also wielding all of the different polygons together.
I'm trying to go for a lot of detail here, pushing the limits of the polygons.

u should make this for H2v cuz halo1 and halo2 are totally different games, but halo 2 can be modded to get it to look like halo3 much better than the ce. halo 1 doesnt have the lunge with the punch along with the sword lunge and u'd have to make a whole new ferris wheel thing but if u just used halo 2 it would be a lot better. it wont be laggy like the zanzibar on hce was.

if u make it for ce make it really really good lookin. if it looks like zanzibar from ce.......ew.

im just sayin it would be so much easier to make it for h2v. u wont have to make a script for duel wielding either. u'd have to get boost on the vehicles too. i would like to see it on hce. if it was on h2v also that would be cool.

u wont have to make everything from scratch either. h2v has all the weapons and stuff. u maybe should make it for both ce and h2v.

I DO NOT HAVE H2V BUT THIS IS JUST AN OPINION.

it would be easier on the creaters of this map and wont be laggy if u put it on h2v

if u put it on hce it would be longer and harder for the creaters and will be laggy if pple with bad computers play on the map. i have to put stuff on low on my halo 1 settings for ce cuz of all the custom contents.

I'm sorry to say but I don't think this is going to work as your saying. Your going to need some master scripting skills for this and you probably will need help with that and good scripters are rare these days. All the things your saying just won't be possible in HCE because you want a high poly count with alot of distructible viehicles and such.

I'm going to go over to halo maps and see if you posted anything there recently and if you have they will give you good advice or be saying what i'm saying.

But other wise i'll like to see this get worked on because it'll maybe give everyone else new tags unless your going to get them from halomaps or rip them out of another map.

Anyway, I have Kirby 422 and Halo Guru on call if I ever need any help, so I am good when it comes to scripting.
I'm redoing the model that you can see in the latest screenies, because I got flamed at Gearbox and H2Vista.net over the huge polygon count. This one has far less polygons, but retains high detail.

I wouldn't want to be too critical about your work, but it seems to me like you're not quite sure what you're doing. Way too many polygons, not necessarily built correctly to be imported into the PC version of either Halo 1 OR Halo 2.
