Right from the beginning I was a Halo fan, the game was beautiful and innovative. The enemy AI was superb (better than any FPS I had played to date), the weapons were cool and the story line compelling.
I remember when Halo2 was announced, all I ever said about it was that Bungie only had to take the game and add an online multiplayer component and the game would be perfect. Bungie did that and so much more!
The online element of the game works beautifully, I’ve been playing since it’s release and have been experiencing lag free games from the get go. The options for multiplayer are so expansive there is no way I can get into them with any detail so I won’t bother except to say it’s awesome. The maps are great and the integration of the vehicles in the multiplayer arena works like a charm.
The graphics improve on the original without destroying the feel of the game that most of us have come to love; the improvements in texture and lighting are obvious to anybody who has eyes! Frame rates are excellent no matter what action is taking place, it’s hard to believe they pulled this off on an Xbox, I’ve seen games on the PC with much greater running requirements that didn’t look as good or run this well.
The Campaign is excellent; being able to see things from the side of the Covenant makes the enemy seem much less one dimensional. That my friend is the essence of good story telling.
I could go on about why this is a great game but making the point would take much longer that I have at this moment. The bottom line is that there are always going to be people the complain because they let a little bit of hype make them think that this game was going to be the second coming. The hype was fun and as far as I’m concerned Bungie delivered the great game they said they would.
There are a couple of small things that deserve criticism but I’m not going to bother. Good job Bungie and thank you very much!!!
