As you are probably aware there was a recent Halo 2 update, and as far as I can ascertain it is required in order to play Halo 2 online. Well recently I was playing Halo 2 online and saw some guys get up on that sniper tower in Lockout. I had as usual but even more so than usual been having no fun. I'm just sick and tired of being killed in two shots and cowardly a-holes sneaking up behind me, while I'm fighting with someone else, and hitting me on the back of the head. But this whole idea that you could go into other places in a map was interesting to me, and it looks fun. All I know that playing by myself isn't fun, nor is playing online. I KNOW that folks hate what I guess they call glitchers, and that stuff like superbounces are no longer allowed online. I'm not here to argue with anyone about this subject. For my own personal entertainment I want to start figuring some of this stuff out though. Just spent an hour or so having fun tank jumping all over Zanzibar. Which brings me FINALLY to my question...

Did the recent update add additional invisible barriers to the levels? I ask because you are supposed to easily normal jump right over a barrier to get to the seawall, once you get up there, which I did with a tank jump. But I can't get over that invisible barrier. I can't even rocket jump over it. Also you are supposed to be able to get out over beyond the main complex roof, but I can't get over that either - not even with a rocket/plasma jump combo. I watched enough videos to know that I'm pretty sure I';m doing just as instructed - just as the folks in the video are doing - but I'm having no luck. So I want to know if the update changed things. I know that this sword cancel thing was taken out, but what else did Bungie change? I also wouldn't mind knowing if there is a website somewhere that has updated videos for getting out of the levels and stuff like that for AFTER the update. Most of the stuff I see is a year old or so. If you know of any more recent sights covering this material could you post a link?

Thanks!

hey i've had no trouble gettig over the invisible barrier on the sea wall after tank jumping up there. just land crouched and stay crouched as you jump over. as far as onto the rocks out of the complex you can still sword cancel out there, i've never made it by myself though. add me if you'd like i'll show you everything i know... i'm not sure how much it really is... fatdaddy109

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

The 1.5 update was necesary fpr the new maps to work in matchmaking, the update also made it impossible to bridge for host.

Er... What does "bridge for host" mean?

Back to superbounces... From what little experience I have I know at least one is still in the game. I managed to do the Zanzibar superbounce to the wheel twice now. But I'm still confused about something...

One of the video tuts I watched said to relax the joystick. In other words jump to your spot and don't do anything else. Others say to press and hold forward after you jump to your spot. Some say jump as you hit the spot. So which is which? What is the one, general, best method after you have launched yourself towards a jump spot?

Also about crouching... Do you have to get the screen to shake? I see in many of the vids folks crouch for a second and then off they go. What's the rule here?

Finally I have created my own gametype. No, this is not a mod. This is just a gametype made with Halo 2's inherent options. You start with the sword as your primary weapon and a rocket launcher as your secondary. In regular mode you have an overshield and damage resistance. The scorpion tank is the default heavy vehicle, Banshees are on where supported. There are no penalties for committing suicide or anything, and the respawn time is faster. So if you see Glitchmatch online while playing Halo 2 during the next few months that'll most likely be me.

The rules are simple... Glitchmatch is all about finding, sharing, exploiting glitches. It has Slayer rules at its base, but nobody is allowed to go around killing folks. Skirmishes are allowed if folks get bored and want to fight each other. But the whole idea here is to sit back, relax, and have fun. Maybe even socialize or create videos. I'll be hosting Glitchmatch tomorrow evening for sure, and maybe tonight after 1:00 A.M. So look for Glitchmatch, hosted by Deathbliss, if you want to share any of your glitch and tricks knowledge or wish to learn what little I know. Just be aware that while this stuff is perfectly acceptable in Glitchmatch, it is generally either frowned on or simply not allowed in any other online Halo 2 gametype. So don't take whatever you’ve learned and carry it over into the ranked matches.

My goal in this is just to have fun, and explore every inch of every Halo 2 level. It’s just something to get me by during what will probably be a slow summer. I'm also trying to learn things that could be used in regular matches online, but which would be practical and perfectly fair to use. Case in point... I now know how to jump on the smaller tower in Lockout. Since it requires only a plasma grenade and jumping skills I would have no qualms about using it online. But I wouldn't use the superbounce to the top of that tower, because that would be unfair. Anyone can grenade jump with a LOT of practice, but superbouncing, at least in my experience, is much, much harder and would be even harder yet to do during a regular match. In general... If you can do it with normal jumping skills and the equipment on the map then it's perfectly fair and acceptable to do. If you can't then it’s not. If you do it but other folks copy you and ruin the fun for everyone else, like VIP on Valhalla in the Halo 3 Beta (you know what I'm talking about), then YOU have to be the responsible person and not do it.

Anyhow I'm going to go back to my movie. I would appreciate your help with my questions, and I hope to see you in Glitchmatch. It's the perfect place to go if you’re sick and tired of getting your @ss handed to you in every other online Halo 2 game!
