10% of their brain capacity.

It shows.

Humans don't even use 10 percent.. its more like 5 or 6, but yeah, if we all used 100 percent of our brains, we'd all be smart as the smartest supercomputer times ten, and thousands of other uknown possibilities

if we used 100% of our brains then we would be so smart that we would already have found Osama Bin Laden.

Humans use approx. 6% of thier brain. if you use 10% then you are a bit above a regular genius. Albert Einstein used about 12% of his brain. also, women use BOTH sides of their brain, whilst us men only use on side.(don't worry guys, we use the important side).

Well I guess we use most of the brain but not for thinking but for memory, reflexes, movement and so on. And I don't think we can use the whole brain at the same time either maybe we would overheat like my graphics card do ;)

You use all of your brain. The "10%" stuff is nonsense.

If we only used one side of our brain, the oppsite side of our body would be completely paralysed.

And if I remember right, the "10%" brain utilisation myth is due to the fact that only a small amount of the brain is used for conscious thought, while the rest of the brain works towards subconscious thought and the regulation of things such as lungs, the heart, circulation, et cetera....

Can't wait for them to develop neural interlinking technology...
Anyone know about Copperhead Fighters from a Sci-fi story?

If this theory proves to be true beyond a shadow of a doubt, then imagine what abilities we would have if we made full use of all our brain.

But it's not true. Everyone uses most of their brain, and everyone uses both sides of it. Everyone who doesn't have some sort of defect, anyway. If I recall correctly, you can cut the nerves that connect the right and left hemispheres of your brain, though, and you would be able to survive.

Edit: Also, I just noticed that topic creator's name. Damn, I love that story.

it isn't 10% like a slice of a pie, but rather 10% of its CAPABILITY. that should set some people here straight.

they aren't saying 'we only use this part of brain', but rather we could think at least 10x better.

From what I've read, this is very much a myth as well. We use our brain's full capacity. If we didn't, what would be the point of it being there?

wow, it seems like your brain is only operating at 3%.

we have a lot of things that do not do anything. if we used to use it, it is referred to as retro helix... like the tailbone.
its just that humans have not taken full advantage of what we have to use. i don't see why you think it is impossible.

There's a difference in not using new things and not using things we have no use for.

So.. you're saying that we used to use the full capacity of our brain and grew out of it, as we did with tails?

If we used more than 10% of our brains, we would be labled as crazy and off the deep end. That's how ESP is possible.

you use all of your brain just 6% at one moment if you used your whole brain at once youd be able to make things levatate and a -blam!- load of other things

*cough* 6% *cough*

not to contradict you or anything

I was being sarcastic. Read it and weep.

Case closed.
