This is an issue that has been raised on www.halomaps.org , so I thought I post it here so u guys could talk about it.
Most maps on Halo Custom Edition are perfectly sized and don't really need more than 16 players.
But what about maps like Hotzone? Coldsnap? Hugeass?
Sometimes, even with 16 players, people in life say "not enough!".

So, people on Halomaps have been raising opinions of editing the script of Halo so this could be achieved, but none have prevailed.
It is most likely that it cannot be done, as Halo's scripting is very secure, but I still have hopes....

well it might be possible i mean people with enough time and patience can do about anything i mean if you can get a juggernout and worker in the game through messing with the code and a grunt to be your character with enough time and patience again can do just about everything.

it sounds like it would be difficult, you'd probably have to create new code from scratch in order to do it, but I'm sure it's possible. I think it's a matter of time, but it may be years yet before it's cracked. I remember how it wasn't until 2-3 years ago that the guys at the Rare Witch Project managed to fully uncover the coding in N64 games that came out in 1998.

wow, my dick broke so i ain't getting it for a while!

UPDATE: Defnop552 has confirmed he has fixed his dick.

My friend told me about some modders in Halo 2 where they made their own "private servers" in which they had anywheres from 64 to 100 players on a single map. Which, if you look at the size of most of em, seems impossible.

The number of player slots and netcode frames is hard coded into the core of the game engine. Memory hacks and scripting will not work. Nothing you can do within a *.map file will allow it. You can not get more than 16 players into a Halo PC or Halo CE server without re-writing the entire game.

WOW, imagine beaver creek or its remake having that many people on it. All you would need to do is throw some genrades when you spawn and get some Kilimanjaro's. Sadly, everyone would be doing this, and all the explosions will do wonders for the framerate. Let's not get into rockets, or else the framerate will have a couple heart attacks at once. :(

Not to mention quite a few people would be autokicked for tks that happened during spawning. Those small maps only have so many spawn points. So you figure even 32 people on one team and 8 spawn points. You're looking at about 4 tks for the lucky one with the worst connection.

I am not sure what you are referring to. My response was to the original question of getting more than 16 players into Halo 1 PC/CE game servers. What has Halo 2 co-op mode, of which there isn't in Halo 2 for Vista, have to do with my response? Are you referring to something else? Please elaborate.
