The thing about the sword that I don't like: It takes just as much effort to kill them if they have their shields weakened. So you have no tactical advantage in throwing a couple of grenades, and shooting them a couple of times. If they sneak up on you, then yes, the sword is more powerful. But what about in real combat in 4 vs 4 combat? The sword forces you into the enemy position, if you use it offensively. Which ussually means the sword guy swoops out of nowhere, and kills one guy. But that one guy was probably standing outside..... and he was probably taking the Brunt of the assault, and was about to die. And he did just as much damage to you as if he had full shields.
Some people might like the sword. But the thing, is, I've never gone a kill tac with my sword. I can get it with a shotgun. Another thing with the sword: Having a sword out is like waving a big fat "Shoot Me!!! Just Shoot Me God Damn It Sign" on top of your head. It exposes you in the dark. In Tombstone, in Team Slayer, I had a shotgun, and the enemy guy had a sword. I crouch walked up, saw that the whole team was camping down here. If I had the sword, and the other guy had the shotgun, I know I would've killed one, maybe two of them, and died. But because I had my trusty shotgun this is what I did: I chucked a grenade into the center, teaching them to not clump together like morons. If I had a sword, this would do diddley squat. Why? Because it still takes the same time to kill. So instead, I whip out my BR, shoot the sword a couple of times, and then charge up close, shoot him (which kills him and weakens his already weakned buddy). He goes down next. I shotgun melee the next guy, and the last guy charges. He's dead.
Oh yeah thats one helluva kill tac right there. I'll go find the game.
