Yeah i know it is the ultimate close range meele weapon but come on how effective is it? I mean you have to be stealthy and if you are spotted some one with a duel-wield can take you out in an instant. You guys saw the e32004 video and how the elite was taken out. So how useful is the energy sword, really?

The thing is, it's not meant for wide open spaces. You use your other weapon until you get close enough to use the sword. Also, that elite could have killed the guy shooting him with a lunge attack. They just didn't for the sake of showing how good dual-wielding was.

Damn useful, i'll make sure i'm perfect with it so i can at least stand a chance outside with it, but you saw what that elite did in the 3d screenshot, and i'll be running a league online where the game type is just energy swords. Bloody conflict.

It'll be just as useful as any other weapon. That's called "balance".
On the plus side, in Campaign mode it will be a source of unlimited ammo... for that mode at least I think it might be a bit extra useful for die-hard fans. Still useless in wide-open spaces, but can you imagine those corridors on AotCR with the P.Sword?

...And don't forget climbing halfway up a ladder in Sidewidner and just waiting for someone to come get your flag so you can surprise em...
Yes, it will be a nice tool in the right spots.

it would be good when attacking a base like your teammates distract the enemy with a frontal assault and the plasma sword guy can sneak in the back way, and all WACK them upside the head.

It would also be a good defensive weaopon. Hide in shadows, then uppercut the flag-carrier. Think about how you wouldm use it in the warthog's side seat, especially in campaign! OH THE CARNAGE
