Have you ever been running away from your enemy while you have the flag with your friend doing his absolute best to give you cover fire, and then you die because your enemy refused to attack your friend? Then the enemy just runs up and steps on the flag for a return. Well, my idea is, when trying to return your flag to your base, instead of just stepping on it, you have to carry it back to your base and place it on it's little stand or whatever. That way, it would at least give your friend a fighting chance to get the flag. There have been many times when my friend would kill somebody who was trying to return their flag just one second too late. What do you guys think?

you could have made a CTF game like that in Halo 1. Just make the rules say that you have to carry your flag to your base for a flag return.

No you can't. I mean you have to carry your flag all the way back to your base when your enemy takes it out. Like, if your enemy comes in and takes the flag, but you kill him, you have to literally carry the flag all the way back to your base.

yeah. That is what i was trying to tell you. You can do that to a CTF game in Halo 1 to change the rules.

That would be a very good gametype or option to CTF " TheBigC " I hope Bungie puts it in, and id they do not, there is always a chance they will make a patch download if it is requested enough.

The only problem is people would hide their flag no on the stand but put it some where unless you'd have to carry back to the stand and if it stayed in one place to long it would time out like it did in halo and go back to the base.

I think he meant that there would be no timer on the flag in this gametype as well. " fencr505 "

That's called an offensive strategy. The goal is to keep the enemy from your flag. If some nimrod steals my flag, I'm going to kill the guy who steals it, not the guy trying to draw my fire, unless it becomes a life/death thing that would prevent me from getting the flag.

Check your options screen. The option you want is in there, as everyone else has said.

By the way, this ought to be over in The Library, as it's not specifically about Halo 2.

Yeah, I know to kill the guy with the flag. But some people I play with don't, so I don't always expect to die. Do you guys play on PC or Xbox, cause I've never seen that option.

 • 05.30.2004 8:42 AM PDT

I play on Xbox. Maybe the option isn't exactly the way we're describing it (I'm not at home, so I can't check), but I'm pretty sure it's there.

Not trying to put down your skills, by the way. I've played with guys who have no focus on the goals, too. It can be maddening!

Anyway, I'll look for that option later.

"Clustering around the flag bearer is a smart idea on the way out, so that teammates can provide cover fire as well as pick it back up if the carrier gets wasted. Once the flag is outside of the base, it can’t be moved by the defenders at all. Instead, it resets back to the flag room if thirty seconds pass without it being advanced by an invader. This gives the offensive team a fighting chance, since they can transport the flag incrementally over time. Picking up the flag is done by holding down X, and makes you a high-profile target: a big blue Flag icon appears above the bearer’s head that can even be tracked through walls. There’s usually no time to fight back if you have the flag; you just haul ass. Getting into a Warthog or a Ghost with boost can be crucial to a quick getaway."

I think that is refering to returning the flag not carrying it back. But I could be wrong. Also I have never seen that option in Halo Xbox. There is certainly Flag must reset, where you have to wait like 15 secs with out it being touched but I have never seen an option where defense must carry it back I'm going to go check if its not there then you all are either speaking from your ass or its a PC feature.

I have just confirmed it. This option is NOT in Halo for Xbox. So which is it guys, Ass talking or PC version?

Well, I've asked like four friends about it, and none of them have ever seen that feature. Anyway, if they don't put my idea in it won't matter that much. I still like CTF more than any other game type.
