Here are my specs:

Vista Premium
AMD Athlon64 X2 5600+ Dual core
2 GB RAM
2x NVIDIA Geforce 8500 GT 256MB WITH SLI
320 GB storage (about 300 left)
Sony Q170A 18 Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW +CD-R/RW Optical Drive
Sony 16X DVD-ROM
Wireless CI 801.11g 54 mbps

How will the two graphics cards affect my performance, and what do you think my multiplayer experience will be like (as in fps)?
Thanks in advance,
Doug

Can I ask how long ago you got this PC?

Can I also ask why you got 2 mid range cards in SLI?

I got it maybe two months ago. By max settings i mean about 1024 by 768 because my monitor's complete crap.

Well, I don't quite like your Video cards...but if 1024x768 is what you want to play at, I'm guessing 30-40 FPS.

The rest of your rig is decent, just need to have better video and a dedicated sound card possibly.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

You need 512mb video for full size textures.

Thanks, I'm fine with around 30 fps (I got that framerate for Halo Combat Evolved on my old rig which was on Win 2000). Doesn't the SLI thing make the vRAM 512MB? Also, how will my multiplayer playback be? (If they're bad, what resolution/settings should I use) BTW, my audio is onboard HD 7.1. Also, I'm considering overclocking the rig; do you know how to overclock with two cards?

You dont need 512 mb video card for full sized texture, the 512 mb is just dedicated ram basicly, if you have 2 gigs of system ram then you can still have full textures.

No, textures are drawn from the onboard VRAM, that's where the 512x512 textures are cached; your game will lag especially if they're all being drawn at 512x512 (high) rather than 256x256 (medium-low) because your video card has to use swap space (motherboard RAM, hard drive) and that can be rather slow as it's not dedicated to the actual texture drawing.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

If you OC both the cards, then you will defintely get low. With some ok (if you call 10-18 ok) fps.

Yikes. I think 30-40 fps is ok; anything lower is unplayable. No OC-ing, then. I'm guessing it can't handle anti-aliasing? Also, what do you think the 800x600 framerate is?

Concidering you have a 8500, and probably no SLI cause nvidias SLI drivers fail more than a donkey trying to poop while constipated

about 30-50 on low 800X600 no AA

When do you all think that nVidia will sort out its SLI drivers? Plus, I heard that nVidia has limited Vista support in the first place because the drivers are crap. Has anybody tried the dual card on this game at all?

ask staticx57

his drivers crash with in minutes of enabling SLI.

anyway you should just go sell those cards you got and get you 1 good one (i heard that the 8600 even runs it good)

How long ago was staticx57's problem? Doesn't the nVidia Forceware V.158.24 clear up SLI problems when enabling it?
