I dunno, my dad got it. He just told me about this when he got home from work earlier, so I couldn't tell him what to get with it. Not like I would've known anyway.

Nice, I can say that much, I remember the good old days, when I and some friends would sit in the computer lab and unlock the system, and then send false staff messages. Priceless. But yeah, sorry for the freakin slow reponses, my internet went e-tarded.

We had that too. Simple to disable: just right click the taskbar icon and select "close".

Our personal network partition said something like 16GB, but I never got it past 1.2GB

Yeah, I remember when after we did those messages a few times, my school bought macs to try to combat the "immaturity". Well needless to say, it failed, it slowed us, but in the end only strengthend our resolve. It is actually what helped me learn the launguages that mac and unix use.

Short of dual quad core and 16 GB of ram, you have probably the best computer you could possibly build. How do you think it is going to run?

The Dual 8800 both have 768 mb of video Ram, which is about 2 times as efficient as normal dd2 ram. So that is equivilent to about 1.5 gigs of dedicated ram plus 4 gigs of normal ram. Its all just going to be wasted, plus the dual video cards wont stack together to make an ultimate graphics experience, they will work individualy and can be used seperatly.

All and all its just a waste. And is your dad like rich, like wow lol. My parents spent 3000 on my computer, but 7000 just seems like such a waste.

lol yeah. I'm going to be building my own computer some time in IT at my college next semester, and since some parts in this are wastes, can I take them out of that and put it into the machine I'm going to build?

I almost said something about the absurdity of you asking such a question when clearly your system can handle it, but then I realized you were brianv and you could be playing a joke or whatnot.

Impressive specs, by the way.

The Dual 8800 both have 768 mb of video Ram, which is about 2 times as efficient as normal dd2 ram.

Now you are just making stuff up. They aren't related as they serve two different fucntions and don't compliment each other. Unless the card has a turbocache feature where the video card takes system ram and uses it for itself (but never the other way around) you would never add the totals. Infact never add the totals period.

Posted by: demonpower20
So that is equivilent to about 1.5 gigs of dedicated ram plus 4 gigs of normal ram.

If you had a clue about how SLI works you would know that you don't add the video memory together so you have dual 768 MiB frame buffers as each card needs a copy of the information. As said above, he only has 4 GiB of total system ram, I fail to see how that is a waste if he does a lot of multitasking. Hell the minimum requirement for effecient multitasking in vista is 2gb(IMO) so 4 GiB should serve him quite well if he decides to game run any other program.

Posted by: demonpower20
Its all just going to be wasted, plus the dual video cards wont stack together to make an ultimate graphics experience, they will work individualy and can be used seperatly.

Who are you to judge this? Do some research and you will find out that the dell does infact support SLI so the cards can work together.
