Anywho ShadowRun and Halo2Vista were just released, and both are the first vista-only games.. probably rushed a bit. I bet after patching both games will be great.

Sadly, Shadowrun needs a lot more than a patch to be "great".
But that's neither here nor there on the topic at hand, so I shall depart.

i really like shadowrun alot (i have the pc version) but you are right, it does need some work done to it, its like they didnt even finish the game before realeasing it

The main improvements in H2Vista are:
Higher Res
No pop in
FSAA (Jaggies FREE)
smoother framerates
Dedicated servers
custom maps
Achievements(if you are into those)
and mouse and keyboard controls(even though they are a bit sluggish)

Everything else is exactly the same as the xbox version which is not a bad thing because the xbox version was very good. My only complaints are it is a little pricey for an older game (I would say $40 would have been a better price) and they shouldn't have waited so long to port it. Overall it's still a great game and having it on the PC with custom maps will greatly improve how long this game still has life online. For those that say it is bad because it is older remember that many older games are still very popular online. Diablo, Starcraft, CounterStrike, UT2004, and Halo 1 for the PC just to name a few.
I think that this game will have the same kind of long term success as well.

Personally, I don't see why people gripe about it being Vista exclusive. I mean, eventually games had to go from 2K to XP, right? H2V is just the first step.

I don't have Vista or H2V yet, but from watching my brother play, here's what I have to say.

-Graphics look pretty great. You can tell this was an Xbox game, but the graphics have been refined.
-Sound is nice. Lots more to hear.
-Achievements. I love the one about getting the Scarab gun; freerunner's dream!
-Games for Windows LIVE has a 360-interface, which makes it easy to navigate if you're familiar with the 360. It also unifies your 360 achievements, so you can lookup anything from either one.
-The Map Editor. Finally, no having to rely on outside tools! I can't wait to see what people come up with.
-It's nice to see the two new maps weren't the two newest maps for H2 on Xbox, as I had feared.
-Finally, the Circuit City deal where you could get H2V for $40 and get Shadowrun free! That's like getting both for $20 each!

So, all in all, when I get Vista, I'm getting this.

A very poor, stumbling step, mind you.

It would be nicer if Vista had more support for sound processors, too.

Except that whoever came up with them sucks and that most of them are extremely easy to obtain and never something I would call "achievements," and then there's the ambiguous, hard-to-obtain-without-use-of-Internet-tutorial Scarab Gun achievement, which is just absolutely absurd.

Yeah, except that it's a shame you can view the Live dashboard only when you're playing a game. That's not Halo 2's doing, anyway.

Just promise me you're not getting Vista just to play this.

Hey I just noticed something......In no place, not even in the credits, is Hired Gun mentioned even once. Trust me, I actually sat through the credits after failing to see them both on the actual box or in one of the opening movie thingamajigs. Wouldn't they want to put their name somewhere in the game or are they just ashamed?

Actually no look at any Pc game see the OS support list its usally 98, 2K and XP. I mean people are still playing games on PC's that run 98 and 2K making any game exclusive to a single OS is just another way for them to squeeze more money from the consumer. But this is Off-Topic so it ends here.

first of all, the game runs fine for me, except for the occaisonal "the display driver has stopped working but recovered successfully" error.

When people start using the map combo/extrenal tools that they will for SURE make, this game's custom content will be amazing.

Everything in the game so far is fine to me, only problem is amount of people online, and retarded, thrown in acheivements (although easy gamerpoints :P).

I don't understand all of the "omfg this is horrible blah" people. Just as bad/good as HPC port, and what came out of that was amazing. Anyone who hates this just hates Halo 2 in general, but I don't see why it is a reason to complain about it all over again.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Well, since my parents refuse to let me buy or obtain any action games anymore, I suppose I won't be getting Halo 2, but so far, I just installed Vista on-to my Pc and it looks very sexy.

Let me guess, they saw a news-item on Mahunt 2 and thought they should protect your fragile mind against this travesty? XD
In reality, the people in the States vote for a president that bombs two countries to hell but they think a simple shooter game will destroy their youth's minds, lol...
Anyway, the number of players online seems to be increasing little by little so that's a good thing.

Oh, no, I'm not getting Vista just for H2V. I'm going to get it eventually (possibly around SP1 or when I build my new computer).

Now to discuss your points.

Yes, I see where you're coming from with the whole "bad move" regarding H2 being only on Vista. Personally, I would've liked a H2XP, but this was MS's decision (not that it totally forgives this, mind you).

True, better sound support would be great, but (sadly) that's what patches are for.

Achievements? Yeah, Scarab Gun is an odd one, but in order to find it originally, most of us had to look up the tutorial once we heard about it. Same with the soccer ball, and the skulls, and just about every Easter egg in the game. So yeah, the Achievements could've been better, but hey, look at Madden. *shudder*

Now I know what you're saying with GFWL, and I too wish to see it as a stand-alone program. If so, then it'd be much better. If not, then we'll just have to live with it. Sorry.

And as I said, not getting Vista just for H2V. I just said that when I get Vista, I'll probably snag this as well, which will probably be around Vista SP1.

Thanks for your comments, though; I appreciate other points of view.
